Free Web Site Monitoring
I hate being told that my Web site is not working. Worse yet, I hate NOT being told that my Web site is not working. When servers go down (and let’s face it, that’s a fact of life), life as we know it ceases to exist. Shayne has installed a monitoring tool for watchdogging our load balanced systems, but that didn’t stop me from registering for the free Montastic service: the free website monitoring service that doesn’t suck. Well, the design of the site is kinda sucky, but the service does work as reported!
Optimize 3.0 is an excellent tool to have in your arsenal. Use it to clean up your computer, free up space by removing junk files, and to generally speed up your computer. You spend a lot of time using your machine... don't you want it to run at its optimum speed and efficiency?

So I signed up for this last night. Not 10 minutes later, my super dependable, “I’m up 99.999999% of the time” website went down. I checked on my other website, which is on a different server, and it was down, too. I went to call my host, which meant I had to check their site to see what the phone number was, and their site was also down.
Apparently there were “massive routing problems”. That’s a powerful tool that can shut down thousands of sites just to prove that it works.

[...] We have about 30 websites in total mostly through our Cubic telecom brand and occasionally but not often we do have downtime. Yesterday Chris Pirillo blogged about a great new service named Montastic I registered all our sites with them; it’s a free website uptime or downtime monitoring service. It informs me by email of any downtime. If they integrate an SMS server and add text message notification it would be even more perfect. Thanks Chris.
