Free 411 vs Fee 411

The power of GOOG compels this random YouTube subscriber…

I came across the Google 411 while searching the Google Labs, which I am sure you’ve heard about. I work for Verizon Wireless as a 411 Directory Assistance Operator. I know some people who have told me that theres a chance Google 411 will take us Verizon employees out of a job because it is free. I have used Google 411 and it really is pretty impressive. To use Verizon’s 411 it costs $1.49 each time you call, and Google is doing the exact same thing, plus offering more for absolutely nothing. I was just wondering what your opinion on Google 411 was, if you’ve ever used it, and if you thought it would be the next most popular 411 out there.

I’ve used Google’s 411 service… and would definitely use it again. Why pay for 411 anymore?!

GoToAssist lets you provide support to your friends or customers even when they aren't at home. By using the unattended support feature, you can fix their software issues, install their updates, or nearly anything else you would normally do on-site.

I think it’s really cool that you can do this for free now. I know my crazy father always uses 411 his entire life and has probably spent at least 500 dollars altogether on it. So I’ll tell him this tomorrow when he wakes up but it’s speak recognition is amazing, I tried it out. But having a real person talking is actually very good at some imtes but it’s freak’n 1.50.

hey chris you that theres 1-800-free-411? i never use 411 i use the 1-800-free-411

I have also used this before. I have also use a service at 1-800-free411. It is an ok service but there is annoying adds that will slow you down if you are in a hurry. But after using goog 411 I will never use anything else again. The features are amazing: I can search by business type or name they will get the thing I am looking for every time, I can get info from the business, or they can connect you, finaly if you need to get the information and keep it for later, they can send it to your cell phone! Google is taking over the world!

I’ve been using it for awhile now. I find it hard to believe that it’s free, but can’t complain with that. I also like the feature of saying “Text” and it texts you the information. It’s good stuff.

I too have used GOOG411 and absolutely love it. The only thing I would like to see them add; the one thing that would make me never use traditional 411 service again is if they would give me the option to have the listing details text messaged to me. That way, I could save the info in my phone book and it would be very convenient.

Other than that, I can’t rave enough about GOOG411 and use it even from traditional landlines. Fantastic service.

Google 411 is amazing, i have used it and it works as advertized! I stand behind my belief Google knows what i want before i search for it.

I’ve never heard of Google’s 411 service. I guess I could google it .

…y’know, if you’re mentioning it you should put a link in there for it!

Check it out… free calls to the UK this weekend… “This weekend, we’re giving away free calls to the UK. Starting at 12:01AM July 15th until 11:59PM July 16th EST you’ll be able to make as many calls as you like to any phone in the UK, and it won’t cost a thing.”

Now that’s worthwhile! Datelined July 12, 2006!
Maybe it’s back — yeah, maybe Chris knows something — so I click on it and it takes me to:
