Fire in the Sky
Growing up, we were lucky to have sparklers on the 4th of July. It's not that my parents were overprotective – just that fireworks are illegal to use (at home) in the state of Iowa. It's quite a departure to observe Independence Day festivities in SF. There are so many hills to climb, so many celebrations to attend, so many more laws to break.

That's not fair, you guys have fireworks that actually look like something; like the “Saturn” one, which by the way, was very cool!

That was cool. I guess SF pulls out all the expensive fireworks. I would have given an arm to see it live.

Watching the fireworks here in North Georgia is more fun. Here the fireworks are usually accompianied by “Hey Bubba, hold my beer and watch this!”

In NYC they cracked down on illegal fireworks. Heck I couldnt even find decent sparklers to buy. Oh well, the Macy's Fireworks were good too.

They're illegal in New Jersey too. It didn't stop my cousin from getting his bottle rockets, cherry bombs and M-80's though. Alot of people used to buy this stuff in North Carolina on the drive back from Florida.

Fireworks are nice and legal in Bothell, WA. There were three different parties launching them within a block of my apartment, and the deck overlooks a hill from which there were several other groups launching.

We've got screwy fireworks laws in Wisconsin. You can buy them, but they're illegal to set off. Even stuff like sparklers. Not that that stops anyone!

Indiana can sell you whatever, but you're not supposed to light them if they leave the ground. Of course, that doesn't stop too many people.
Fireworks are good. I wanted to make my own once…until I started to read up on it…I would've ended up high on some mixture and then blown myself up.

Psh, that's nothing! Okay, it is actually. It's a lot better than what my town has. It's quite enjoyable, no matter how sucky they are, to sit directly beneath them in a field. We weren't supposed to be there and were told numerous times, but … well… that doesn't matter.
