Finding Wi-Fi

Second mission of the day: find a place close to our house that gives us free Wi-Fi. Supposedly, the cable company will be paying us a visit tomorrow to install business-class broadband, but I need a backup plan. Dial-up just isn't an option anymore! I need high speed, but I would rather fly wirelessly. Shouldn't be too much of a problem to locate a wireless-friendly coffee shop around these parts. However, Wi-Fi search engines weren't able to turn up anything for the Leschi Beach area when I tried 'em. I'd rather not pay for Wi-Fi, mind you, and I'm not a subscriber on any wireless network that has local hotspots. I'm not going to be doing any heavy downloading, mind you – just the simple stuff. Why isn't Wi-Fi everywhere yet? Well, at least Speakeasy is starting to do something here. Hey Glenn, maybe you know where I could go? What, with you being the Wi-Fi Gu-Ru and all.

You should try the coffee shops. http://www.veritecoffee.com/ is in your neighborhood. On Capitol Hill is Vivace, 901 East Denny, 321 Broadway Avenue E. This is the best Coffee in town, and free wifi to boot.

Also check out the Seattle and King County libraries. I'm doing some work today in Bellevue and stopped at the Bellevue Regional Library between meetings to get some Internet time.

oh pirillo, quit your whining, get out your Pringles can antenna and see which of your neighbors is going to “let” you check your email tonight….

The closest one to you might be Cupcake Royale, a rockin' cupcake/coffee shop up the hill. http://www.cupcakeroyale.com (it's the Madrona location)
Good luck! Kim Peterson
