First, the author of this and other Microsoft-friendly articles is WORKING FOR MICROSOFT. Read the ABOUT page.

Now, about the Ribbon UI:

1. Changes the UI without any option to use "classic" menus.

2. Is NOT easier to use, and even if some people think it is, I still want to choose my own interface - which I could do in Office 2003. The QAT is NOT the same, and really a sick joke on the hard-core UI customizers who build custom toolbars and menus to make the software confirm to THEM, not the other way around!

3. The keystroke commands only work if you REMEMBER ALL THE KEYS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE COMMAND. If you don't remember the complete sequence, you can't see the next key by looking at the menu that pops up like in Office 2003. All you have is your sequence repeated back and the currently visible Ribbon tab shows the associated keyboard, but if what you want is on another tab, you have to resort to the mouse to get to that tab to complete the command anyway.

4. The "focus groups" Microsoft used were apparently not working people. People who work for a living actually USING Office 2003 would not have time to be in these groups. Will anyone who was ACTUALLY IN A FOCUS GROUP come forward and explain their method for being more productive with the Ribbon?

MICROSOFT- THIS LONG TIME USER WANTS TO CHOOSE HIS OWN USER INTERFACE!

In fact, Office 2007 Menu and Toolbars could be shown again. Just download and install Classic Menu for Office 2007 from http://www.addintools.com/english/menuoffice, you will see the Main Menu Bar, Standard Toolbar, Formatting Toolbar.
