Well get rid of the message!

In Outlook, go to Tools -> Options -> Other -> Advanced Options

and untick "Show prompt to enable Instant Search".

Job done and Desktop Search 3 confined to the virtual recycle bin!

Hi,

not sure how I ended up here but..
anyway for all things fax, if you have a linux box somewhere with a good modem I really like to use hylafax (http://www.hylafax.org)

I installed it at my dad's clinique and it's been working great for the past 3 years
I heard that one of the the web interfaces for hylafax, AvantFax (http://www.avantfax.com/) has come a long way but I haven't tried it yet

personnaly, I use samba to share incoming faxes through windows shares, and the fax outgoing spool looks like a shared printer to windows hosts but I know you can do neat things like email to fax and fax to email with it (with CallerID discrimination for incoming faxes)

another neat trick is to use asterisk with it, when I receive a fax, my phone rings and it says "you have a fax, press 1 to display" and if I press 1 the fax appears fullscreen on the windows box associated with the phone (to do that I use the excellent irfanview and a win32 program called rshd to receive commands from my asterisk box)

try doing that with a commercial system ;) YAY for OSS !

Hi Chris,
Do you use Microsofts free Virtual PC 2007, as mentioned in your Picks of 02/20/2007, for opening your XP programs on your Vista set-up?
Scott Hansalman did a great write-up at:
http://www.hanselman.com/blog/VirtualPCTipsAndHardwareAssistedVirtualization.aspx

Cheers,
