For viewers I think irfanview is the best, and it has a batch coverter to convert formats. It seems great for doing quick edits especially for web work. While I still like Irfanview better for everyday use and Fireworks of Photoshop has more features for serious work this program excels in the area of filtering. Another big plus - the lasso tool seems to have a much better interaction with the mouse than other programs. It feels more natural for some reason.
