In a move that surprised many of us today, Facebook quietly began testing a new “delete account” feature. In the past, it’s been extremely difficult to remove your own account from the site. You had to click through about ten links, then confirm your choice several times. If you made it that far, you then had to wait up to two weeks (with NO logging in) to have your account removed from the site. Now, however, the Facebook team is testing out a much easier – and faster – account deletion method.

According to reports, the option will “permanently delete your account and all information you have shared”. It has not been rolled out to all users yet, though. Once it has, you’ll see it in your Account Settings menu.
