Face Recognition for Windows Login
This software is completely free - and 100% cool:
How does BananaScreen work? With a simple webcam, facial features are captured to build a statistical representation of the face. No picture is stored on your hard drive (or anywhere else) but only your face model (binary format).
Do I need a particular webcam? We successfully tested BananaScreen with most of the recent (<2 years) webcams. If you encounter a compatibility problem with a webcam, please post a message in this forum with a detailed description of the webcam. We will try to fix the problem as soon as possible and keep you aware.
What about privacy? No picture is stored on your hard drive nor transmitted on internet. Only your face model is locally stored. This model is based on some statistics of your facial features and is saved in a binary format which cannot be read by third parties.

Windows Lock/Unlock Via Webcam Chris Pirillo pointed out some software from BananaSecurity which uses a webcam to recognize your face, lock your computer when you’re not there, and unlock it only when it recognizes your face again. Obviously there are some questions about this, like what if I’m wearing a

This is interesting but a password works just fine. I think people don’t realize how easy it is to create and memorize a series of letters and numbers. I can easily keep up to five or six passwords in my head, none of which have any words in them. To be honest I don’t need more than two now that i use PassPack.

Good software!
Actually its just for fun, coz on some or the other angle, anybody’s face unlocks the computer easily.
But, i admit its really a cool aslternate way to “lock and unlock” the computer ;-)

In some cases it might be useless for security, someone could stick your picture in front of the camera and gain access

I have a Dell inspiron 1525 and get BSOD on boot after installing this.
I’m running vista home premium.
Removed bananascreen via safe mode and it was all good again.
It seems the like the software either conflicts with the Dell webcam software or the hardware.
Can you try and solve this?

I tried Banana before and have the same problems with it. Now I use Rohos Face Logon, works better (i.e. my friends cant unlock by face:) ) and it has a feature to prevent hi-res-image photo-match unlock.
