“F” That “S”
I’m sorry, I just don’t see the logic in claiming that the “F” word is a bad word. It’s not a bad word any more than the “A” word is, or the “B” word - and let’s not forget about the “Z” word. Entire civilizations have fallen from using the “Z” word. I understand not using the “Z” word, because the “Z” word is the most offensive word in the entire galaxy. But the “F” word and the “S” word?
How, precisely, are they bad?
Words can be used as weapons, but that doesn’t make the words bad - the people using those words to demean or demoralize are the ones who are bad. The “F” and “S” words (themselves) are inherently not evil. The “F” word helps convey strong emotion - and the “S” word is something that every f’ing human does. If you’re offended by the “F” or “S” words, then I feel sorry for you.
Mind you, I’m not talking about the “W” word, the “C” word, or the “N” word - I’m only talking about the “F” and “S” words (rather, racially-independent words). I can’t really defend the “G” word, because the “B” (and/or “T”) strictly forbids its use. Think about WHY you might be offended when someone uses the “F” or “S” word - is it because the words are bad, or because you feel it’s immoral to use words that aren’t sanctioned by some random moral authority?
Oh, and then there’s the “E” word - which is a completely different argument (with direct relation to the “O” and “Y” debacle). Moreover, why is it okay for some people to use the “J” or “K” words when others can’t? Doesn’t seem fair to me, and that is quite offensive in and of itself.
I use “F” word, and I don’t feel a “D” bit of shame (especially when I’m trying to eke out a wicked “S”). Let s/he who has not f’ed cast the first “Q.”

I knew that you were going to confront the issue of using profanity on your webcam.
Thanks for keeping it real.

I don’t find the ‘F’ word offensive when it’s used in context and at the appropriate time. I’m 51 and in my day it was considered a VERY powerful and offensive word. These days it’s thrown about like any other word in the English language. AND it’s used quite liberally and out of context. When you can’t think of a word to use then just substitute the ‘F’ word. That seems to be the modern mindset. Use it only when it’s necessary but don’t use it for every other word because you can’t think of anything intelligent to say. Then it just becomes white noise.

“or because you feel it’s immoral to use words that aren’t sanctioned by some random moral authority?”
Is that similiar to the same moral authority that tells us we can’t call people faggots? ((The “Other” F word) Or call African Americans “Blacks”?
Oh..wait..that’s not a moral authority. That’s the ******* Political Correctness Police. (FPCP). But they are ok, right? I mean…let’s not get carried away here. We can’t have people spouting ******* ****** obscenities like “***” or calling people “blacks” can we now? That would be wrong. That would be ignorant. That would “un-enlightened”. But using the word “****”? ****…that just shows how ******* cool you are.

I guess the Chris Pirillo Moral Authority doesn’t sanction the word “F A G”, either.

Well lets see what a dictionary have to say about profanity:
I will use the website http://www.answers.com which is an online dictionary. I first looked at the word “swearing” and saw that “to swear is to utter profanity”, so I had a look at “profane” because profanity is to be profane. Looking at the meaning of profane you will see it is to be “vulgar” and there I found what I was searching for. The following two sentences sums it up quite nicely: “Spoken by or expressed in language spoken by the common people” and “Marked by a lack of good breeding; boorish“.

No word means anything inherent of itself. Words, their meanings, and the feelings they evoke are culturally constructed. The world “****” is offensive because weʻve made it that way.

I have never cussed or used any profane word in my (15 year old) life and i really dont plan on it. There is no point in cursing and int those situations where you stub your toe or whatever you can just say a less offensive word such as danget or flip. I believe that my life has been better because i have always been taught in chuch to not curse or use profane language and i plan to follow that advice. and if you were wondering i got to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka the Mormons).

All the “bad” words like ****, *****, mother ******, god damn, **** sucker, are just ways of how we all use them with the negative attitude we give off to back them up. I use them all the ****** time because to me they are not bad words, they wont make you go to hell, or heaven but words are words. It’s just like convincing a toddler that cookie, cake, banana, apple, and all the other regular normal words we use are bad. So what the hell? just about anybody can say that any word is bad but these so called cuss words are not bad, nor are they good. They’re just words! If you have any problems and want to try to convince me other wise feel free to hit me up at my email address. But I’m telling you all now…trying to convince me that a “bad” word is a cuss word and not just a word in general…Good luck because I have my own beliefs!
