Looks good, but a bit too wide in my browser. I prefer sites to expand the right column as the browser window increases and have the left column with a fixed width.

boooooooring

Looks good, but could use more color. I also think that the top section could be reworked. Maybe more the subscriptioon info to a page of its own, and maybe use the top section of the page for daily tech headlines.

Looks alright, but as Jason says a little boring. A little more colour, perhaps? Congrats on going via the Wired route though.

Say, why dontcha ask Sekimori to design it? They did a good enough job on Gretchen's blog.

Lots and lots of animated buzzsaws! ;)

how about a Flash intro? Now, thats gonna give it a wired effect.

It looks better than the old site. A new look is always good.

I like the new look Chris. As long as you are rewriting some code, I always have a hard time getting to the search past issues area. It would be nice if it were a little user-friendly in that regard

Maybe I'm the only one who finds the colors on this appealing? I actually like it, but yes, there is something missing. I wouldn't say it's boring though because the actual content would determine that and the content is interesting.

I like it too. But a little oomf never hurt…Flash intro might be annoying after awhile though…

I think you should get the content up there before the 'Subscription' information. People came for the info, not to subscribe! It is a little… boring, yes. Maybe a little color on the right-hand panel? And why not try to set an example and make it XHTML and CSS compliant? :)

Definately need more information about what Lockergnome is. I have been a lockergnome reader for many years, and yet I go there and still have no idea what Lockergnome does, even though I do. :)

You might try using a background color/image on the rightmost column where you list “Features” and “Community”. Doing so would frame your page's main content area, in addition to adding that little bit of “oomph” that others have indicated it could use. Personally, I like the possibilities, and this new layout certainly feels more, I guess “inviting” is the word I would use, than the old format. A bit more [nackground] color would add some warmth though.
BTW, I don't usually blog about the net, but for you, I made an exception. Chris, you've got a load and a half of talent and drive. I look forward so seeing what you do with the Lockergnome.

I like it. Very clean looking.

To wide for my browser. I've always loved the layout and scheme of your site anyway. If you do change can I use your old layout?

Yes, it is boring, and I agree, get Sekimori on the phone. I looked through their portfolio and I would hire them. Other than that, it “works” and is much better than loading whatever was soaking the bandwidth up the current site does. I can remember you having a problem on CFH getting your own site to load…
Also, I agree with the comment, “What Does Lockergnome Do?” (WDLD?)

Sorry, I don't have the time. See, my PowerBook hasn't crashed since I got it so I'm too busy seeing if I can screw it up by playing with Unix.
Later.

Where's the apple pie?

I love the design. Maybe just change the blue color to something more matching the Lockergnome color scheme.. for instance, change the blue to the colors you use for the logo. Or green or light brown or something like that. The layout tho is great!

Looks like everything's in it's place, love the color, easy on the eyes.

Looks good to me. Clean, crisp, refreshing!

I like it, nice, streamlined, easy on the eyes, cool, aesthetically pleasing.

maybe it's just me but most of the time I get online at night and sites with too much white space hurt my eyes, what about a black or dark colored background?

Very cool. I like it!

Very, very nice! I really think clean and crisp is a lot easier on the eyes when there is so much content. Agree about putting subscribing info somewhere else (on the side, perhaps). Content is king :)

It seems to load faster.
PHT

I think a dark BG would be refreshing. White gets boring after a while. Other than that I like it.

here puppy, puppy… I see you

Hey Chris… I love the desktop wallpaper you have up with the giraffe and the lightpost on your “from my desktop” pop up window. Where can I get a copy of it?

I love the design. I'm still on a 56k modem and it loads a lot faster than the original one.

It`s very clean looking , wich could be , or comuld not be a good thing. I like it but then again i do really like the look u have now for lockergnome.

Have you seen Stacy's Day? Whoo boy!

Looks musch better!

Very nice CP. A welcome update if you ask me. Colors looks good but I would make the background for the sidebar on the right a contrasting color to make it stand out a little more. Keep up the good work!

I tooks to “blah” it needs more life and more color

Don't use fixed font sizes in your CSS. People can't resize the text size (smaller/larger). Use relative sizing when defining font-size.

I think you need to entirely scrap the heavy indentation/outdentation look to your Title tables and stuff. But whatever you do – NO FLASH INTRO (as was previously suggested)!!

Awww… Where did the “Loading… Go get a cop of coffee” gone?:(

Change the background color,The white is to, well, white it hurts my eyes.any other color would be good. particularly what I have come to call “lockergnome green”.

I agree on the color; ditto the NO FLASH INTRO –that is definitely tired. Also, content is nice on the front page, but I think you should convince people to click through to other pages on the site.

I like that you're changing the site. It deffinately was time. I think a good idea would be to use the full body cartoon image of yourself (like on your blog) and then have a cartoon image of Sprocket made at your side. I'd use that on top of the frontpage. And then you could use Sprocket as a helper throughout the site. Searches (fetching), and overall add some fun to the site. I don't know take it or leave it :)

How about a comic strip staring Sprocket, you and Gretchen. It could be sort of a day in the life of the Pirillos kind of thing through the eys and thoughts of Sprocket.

If you need professional help, I have my own geeky company.

when is Rent My Ass going to be up?

Dear Kurt, that is so 5 minutes ago. Dude, that sounds like my weekly sbemail.
Crapfully yours,
Strongbad

Nice look. It's time to get more elegant and it looks like you are headed that way. I guess I wouldn't mind a new Lockergnome logo as well but that's just me.

Chris, put pictures of scantily clad woman up on the site or make the background scantily clad women.
Okay, how about just one small picture of a scantily clad woman? :)

Hey Chris!
Like the new look. It is simpler and quicker to NAV thru. I find it comfortable to utilize and not as “busy”. I would try out for a while before you make a final decision on the look. :-)

I like the new look a lot!

I agree with Yog Sothoth. How about a picture of robyn from tampatantrum.com? =) BTW I started no pants friday early…

some tech headlines on top would be really neat indeed

Very clean, almost stark. :( Maybe just a bit more contrast in the font/background area for us optically impaired viewers.

intergrate it with ibf.

Hey Chris,
We ALL go through phases , but this one of yours LOOKS GOOD!

What Do You Think?
