End Of An Era

For Shelley and David's last evening in San Francisco, we played a game of Trivial Pursuit (Genus IV Edition). We played on teams – the young versus the not-as-young. At first, they were up by three pie pieces. It was looking grim. Gretchen and I turned on the heat not long after regaining control of the die. Soon enough, it was five against five. In the end, we edged them out with six pieces and landed in the center on the first try. The final question was something about a baseball pitcher's nickname stemming from an Arnold Wisenheimer… er, Schwarzenegger movie. Duh. Kindergarten Cop. We win!
I keep looking over my shoulder to see if Gretchen's updating her blog. No dice. Instead, it appears as though she's looking through some online job postings. Like everyone else in San Francisco, she's overqualified and underemployed. We've been successful in trying to get rid of the “extra” items lying around the loft. My iPaq was sold at a darn good price – which will help us eat for a whole week! Don't laugh. I'm not kidding. The cost of living is through the roof in the City. If, that is, you can even afford the roof. That usually costs extra, ya know.

And once again, any time I consider complaining about my job I remind myself that I am glad that I *have* a job, and at a damn good design firm to boot. Even if we are down here in Houston instead of the ever hip San Francisco area. The view isn't as nice, the air pollution is horrible, but … we are hard at work. Plus the rent is lower. And I am thankful.
