Elf Indulgence

After spending a wonderful afternoon at the Getty with old friends and new, we decided to catch a movie. Someone suggested Elf. Since I'm not a huge Will Ferrell fan, I balked at the idea. “Don't go with any expectations, and you'll enjoy it.” Sure, I've got $527 burning a hole in my pocket – just enough to purchase two movie passes and a small sack of popcorn (no refills). The film was… well, let's just say that I'm getting the DVD. Impressive! It was funny, upbeat, original, and had just enough intelligent pop culture references scattered throughout. As odd as this may sound, I found this production to be more “family friendly” than the Cat in the Hat. In other words, you shouldn't miss it – and it's definitely earned a spot in my annual rotation (alongside The Santa Clause, A Christmas Story, and Rudolph Licks His Balls).

The movie you HAVE to see is “Bad Santa”! ;D That movie had me laughing to the point of tears!

The kid reminds my of my brother's freind.

when are they gonna be a movie called “THE Gnomies”
Make one Chris!!!

The Escalater scene had me rollining in Elf. and the big foot reference, an the gum. but did you notice that whenever hes talking with the snowman before he leaves for new york theres a bunch of shadows around him. like from multipule lights.

elf is hilarious everyone go see it
santa is coming! OH MY GOSH I KNOW HIMMM I KNOW SANTA I KNOW HIIIIMMMMM!!!
:)

Yep — no doubt about it: “Elf” was a far better film than “Cat in the Hat”. The latter had so much crudity and tastelessness that I'm pretty sure I heard Dr. Seuss spinning in his grave as I left the theater.

You think you got it bad, tickets for a gneral admission are $10 apiece here in Toledo, OH. They say it's like second highest in the country, who knows but it's a rip off. Not even a student discount :-(

You can still go to a movie theater? I thought those went out a long time ago.. hehe Thought technology killed them….

Damn, $527 for just two tickets and a SMALL popcorn?!?!? Talk about inflation, dude. hahahah ;-)

Will Ferrel still rocks after all these years. I am yet to watch Elf but certainly looking forward to it. Or better yet, WE'RE GOING STREAKING!!

Did you enjoy the Getty Center?
I personally prefer the Getty Museum in Malibu… I can't wait for that to open up again!

Many a day I spent in the bowels of the Getty reading my Lockergnome newsletters.. Glad Chris was able to enjoy it – too bad I'm not still there or we could have given him the “under-the-hood” tour…
and there's no way to hack into the Tram… we used to talk about it though :)

Chris,
What happened to Gretchen's Blog? I miss reading about her life.

I know this is an old post, but I love Elf, it’s one of my favorite movies. It was definitely more family friendly than cat in the hat. Cat in the hat was full of sex jokes, which is just horrible for a children’s movie.

What Do You Think?
