Best thing I bought off of ebay was my new stick of RAM, outlasted my RAM that came with my PC to take the smirk off of my friends face who said I was making a mistake and put the smirk onto a very smug Coombes.

Interesting, but why would someone do that? Just to get their account suspended? If Chris know who it was he would probably ban him from his IRC Chatroom.

From experience, I don't think so. My partner and I started buying to sell last October (2006). We started from scratch, and paid for our first load of stock with our credit card - eek! - 200 worth.

We stuck it on eBay, writing the best headings we could, and pricing our items as fairly as we could (while still making a reasonable profit). We also made sure our postage was fair.

We weren't the only people on eBay selling our items. But they started selling, and by the time that credit card bill came in three weeks later, we paid off the 200 easily.

We kept on reinvesting our profits in new stock, and almost six months on we now have money regularly going into our business account; we have an eBay shop; we have something in the region of 1500 worth of stock that is all bought and paid for, and things keep getting better.

We started off as an 'average' seller. Basically we started from scratch. And we're doing well because we are constantly looking at what we're doing, constantly revising listings to see if we get better results, tweaking things here and there, promoting what we're doing, and working hard to develop what we hope will be a long term business.

So although eBay is a HUGE marketplace, and yes it's competitive, there's no reason you can't compete and earn your own chunk of cash - provided you do your homework and you're prepared to put the hard work in.

We, as sellers, are trying to let the everyone know that there has been a class action lawsuit filed against eBay for erroneous accounting practices. You can read about the problems sellers have had on the Technical Issues Community Board on eBay at this link:
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jsp?forum=87&thread=410092573&modified=1089481480241
The link to the site of the Firm that is handling the case is :
http://www.fazmiclaw.com/
Not a good story, but one that needs to be told, nonetheless.

I have been buying and selling on Ebay since around 1998. I dont have a very high rating , think it is around 74 or whatever but I have 100% still which I think is a GOOD thing.
I remember when you could post an auction and put a price on it and then the bidding frenzy would begin. Ebay has evolved and now there are programs out there that will enable a buyer to do proxy bidding and wait to the very last minute or so to bid for you. In other words , no more bidding wars which means that everyone is buying stuff at the bottom dollar. From a buyers perspective that is good because it keeps the prices down but it is also irritating to have a bid one minute and then right at the end have it snatched out from underneath your nose because you were not sitting at your computer monitoring your auctions or email notifications.
Well anyway, not sure that my comments qualify as an actual Ebay Story but that is my input for now.

Not really - except for the time some dude put an auction for a shiny thing while naked (you could see his penis reflected from the item).
