I have no problem with sniping. It’s how most auctions are won. What does annoy me however is when bidders win a paypal only auction in the last few seconds, and then don’t pay for a day or so. You’re at your PC, you won the auction – now click the god damn PAY button!

I’ve gotten afraid to even go near ebay lately. I spent several hundred bucks on a music sampler a few years ago, and never even got the item. And now there are just way too many scammers on there, you can’t trust anybody these days. :(

for christmas i was trying to by a rugby hat for my sister i looked every were. i finally found one i won the bid and i waited a couple days and about 3 days before christmas the person sent me a message saying there was a run in it. this made me mad because they could have told be this earlier and a had no time to find another one. so my sister got nothing for christmas from me.

I always buy by finding the (description) item I want in search. Then I find the particular ones that are ending first. Then I wait and see about 5 minutes before those are going to end and where the price is at. Then if this is below what I’d pay, then I wait and place the maximum I would pay in the last 60 seconds.

Win some lose some. Sniping? You’re upset about this? Well it is completely within the legal and ethical standards for EBay (or any auction for that matter), so if you don’t like it, tuff Shinola!, don’t use auctions.

And if you don’t pay well, 90 days in prison will put a stop to that!!

whats sad is if the seller really needs the money and someone comes along and jerks them around then they have to start back from square
one unless the second highest bidder contacts them about buying anyway

Chris… I know how you feel. This happened to me when I was selling a projector, don’t worry though! eBay USUALLY takes care of it. If not, take it up with PayPal. They will really crack down on the guy. Hope all goes well.

Hey, it’s an auction, so anyone can bid at anytime. If this makes you uncomfortable, set a fixed price (or Buy It Now), and require immediate payment. That will solve the problem, because the first to buy at the price specficied AND pay, gets it.

Chris, I think you may have jumped the gun here, unless you have a very valid reason to think he is not going to pay, which you have not really elaborated. I regularly bid on ebay and other auctions. Most regulars would wait till the last moments to put in their bids so as to have abetter chance of winning and not pushing the price up. The fairness of this depends on how you look at it. So snipping is a part of a regular auction.

Non paying bidders are morons and are a actuall pests. They deserve all the bad mouthing and curses.

Wait few days and see if he pays up before really badmouthing. Maybe you had a tough day and letting off steam. Would you keep us updated if he pays?

I agree that the account particulars and bid history of ebay member ninjaman850 would tend to make me doubt that secure and permanent payment is coming anytime soon.

As an ebay buyer and seller, I find “Second Chance Offer” has its merits, but I may never buy from “Second Chance Offer”. This is because the price cannot be modified from my highest bid placed. I feel “Second Chance Offer” should be made at the highest bid which would have existed HAD THE NONPAYING BIDDER’S BIDS, ALL OF THEM, BEEN COMPLETELY REMOVED. Alas, in the case of the so-called bunk bids placed on l0ckergn0me’s items, only single bids were placed. Chris will be learning how to apply to have ebay end-of-item charges reversed on the unpaid items.

To respond to efesbe, when ebay bidder ids appear like b***h it’s not the real bidder id but a programming measure taken by ebay to protect bidder privacy. You’ll often see real ids be replaced by masked versions on expensive items.

To those questioning sniping or don’t grok why. It’s because of the bozos out there that have no life and “competitive bidding” is how they feel alive. Seriously – haven’t any of you noticed how sometimes people will pay way more for an item on eBay than you can get it at a B&M? Their egos get wrapped up in a bidding war – it’s almost like the worlds most expensive video game – “Hold off the bidders and take home the grand prize!”.
Sheesh. So rather than get one of these morons unterbrain involved you simply wait and snipe at the last minute. To those beefing about losing a snipe – well – there’s a simple rule for that. Bid what you are willing to pay. The price will only go up enough to secure the bid – you’re not out the whole amount if it can be had for less. Learn how to work effectively folks….

hey chris. I’ve never been ebaying before but that doesnt sound so good. your bidding for something and the some idiot comes and puts some high bid trying to be funny even though he’s not gonna buy it. I think that ebay has to do something about these last minute snipe bidders.
