Easter Egg Hunt for Toys and Candy

As a kid, what was your Easter morning tradition (if you even had one)? My two younger brothers and I would often spring out of bed two hours before the sun would rise - Easter toys and candy were waiting for us downstairs on the main level of our house. We could count on finding little chocolate footballs (chocolate eggs, really), jelly beans, miniature peanut butter cups, and a few unwrapped presents.

It’s been a few years since I was last on an Easter egg hunt - since I’m no longer a kid, and showing up to a neighborhood Easter egg hunt would be borderline weird (since Ponzi and I don’t have kids of our own). I decided to hit Target yesterday, picking up plenty of provisions so that my wife could relive her childhood Easter memories. It’s not quite the same, but at least we both had fun doing it (I think).

So, again - what did you do for Easter (this year, or yesteryear)?

That was nice of you, good job. :)

Dang. That’s as much as I got for 3 years or so combined.

a few years ago, we started a new tradition: the easter bunny (usually my older daughter) would keep track of how many easter things s/he had hidden, and as soon as all were found, someone else would hide them all over again, trying to make it more difficult to find them.

You have a nice home Chris thanks for sharing.

I can’t see the video. I spend Easter with my girl in a fantastic Italian countryside (i’am italian). And you ? ;)

That was a really cool idea, Chris! Your wife really liked it!

Awww, that was so cute Chris! What a good idea. :)

Wow.
That was really nice.
I can’t imagine what you are going to do with all that candy.
You have a really nice house, and very cute and energetic puppies.
Congrats.

My mother would place a little piece of paper near our pillows on the bed. It would be a clue to the next clue, and on and on until you found your Easter basket. Along the way you kept your eyes peeled because there were tiny little chocolate foil eggs hidden all over the house. There would be about twenty clues per child, and it was hilarious, with four of us racing about. The baskets themselves were full of hard-boiled decorated eggs, candy, fruit and some little toys here and there: a miniature deck of cards, etc.

It was wonderful, wonderful. My mother passed away shockingly two years ago last September and these last holiday have been brutal. At least I have a child around to do these things with, but boy, nothing like looking back to remember what we did…………sigh……..

Thanks for the memory sharing!

Lynn

Great idea.Hope your wife loves you more than the candy.
