You will be missed, by everyone. Thank you for everything you have done to make TechTV and Call For Help a great television show worth everyones time. The number of people that you've taught over your time at TechTV has helped the most novice user become more skilled and experienced. While my appearances this summer on TechTV may be on hold now, I will always remember last summer and the fun we had doing those interviews for the now deserted TechTV Techies (now on my site, techtvsource.com). At least I am still an employee of Lockergnome so I'll still get to see and talk to you. While TechTV may have been a beginning for our relationship it certainly won't end now, I hope you go well into whatever your new job may be and I wish you all the best from the east coast. Take care guy, see you at Gnomedex.

Well, Leo is cool and of course, very geeky, but after awhile, you get used to a person you see almost every day. Oh well…We can all be supportive of his descisions.

Wow, talk about total shock and awe. I can't believe this. I have learned so much from you over the years, I really wish it didn't have to end. Even though I haven't gotten to see CFH since they moved the show times around, I did get a solid 6 months worth of it last year. Within that 6 months I learned more about computers than I would have ever thought possible (I got my first 'puter as a Christmas gift in 2001). It is all because of you, Chris. You are a hell of a teacher, and as Ralph said above, I believe you are well on your way to being a legend in this industry. Thanks for everything, and may God bless you in what ever endeavors you take on.

I stumbled upon CFH on accident. I was up insomniac-ing and caught the 18 hour help-a-thon. I instantly fell for Chris' awesome, funny, quirky, geeky personality and started watching the show almost religiously. I never did anything with computers beyond Word and IE, but Chris and Cat made technology fun, interesting, and even understandable. I hope Chris knows how much he'll be missed. (Do you think his leaving is somehow connected to the haircut?? jk) GOOD LUCK!!!

If anyone can't see the pattern developing at Tech TV, they need glasses thicker than mine. First, drop “Call for Help” to the dregs of air time, slice 1/3 of “The Screen Savers” and then cut the rebroadcasts. Now no Chris. New regime, new bottom line. Leo seems to have found which limb to grab onto. I'll keep watching this space hoping there will be a real tech oriented channel again soon with the Lockergnome logo.

before they broke him in with his own show, i remember when the lockergnome kid made his way to radio & then showed up as a TSS guest on my ZDTV station. awkward at first but that was a fun surprise. What the hell, i thought, that could have been me. heheheh.. after the resentment abated i decided to be glad for you. =)

Actually I talked with someone inside TechTV who expressed concern that the channel was not doing well at all. He also mentioned problems at CNET> Sure enough a month later CNET Radio was gone so I think he knows what he's talking about. We could very well be seing the first step in TechTv's implosion. Shedding staff and moving people around.
Leo's post may just be him playing the good soldier. And besides, Patrick and Martin kick his butt.

i never liked screensavers cause i think there's too much tostesterone on the show…but Call For Help with CP is a godsent…the people are wonderful and colorful (Frogger Roger, Silly Brent Larson and Kitty Cat) which made me glued to the television every night…Leo is old…CFH is for young, hip, and techno-craze people…obviously the two dont match…i will stop watching CFH for now…Chris, good luck in whatever you choose to do…i hope techTV will give you your own show….

TechTV is doing everything it can to run itself into the ground. They move CFH to the most inconvenient time of the day. CFH can be seen once whereas the Thunderbirds run over and over and over and over. (it sucks!) TSS is now only an hour long. And even worse, its moving to the “digital” package on most cable markets. I forsee a grim future for TechTV.

Chris — sorry to hear about this! We just picked up Digital Cable back in February and thoroughly enjoyed CFH under your aegis.

Humph…wonderful. Take away people from day lineup to make room for late night…TechTV is looking cheap, man. I'm still wondering what this “Unscrewed with Martin Sargent” thing is…a Jimmy Kimmel show with who else, but Martin. And X-play…ok, late night gaming show. Err…What? Will they show more of that beach volleyball game and maybe Adam might say *** a few more times? Woopty freakin doo…TechTV isn't really catching my interests anymore. I see them really trying to get in some ratings, but it looks stupid. Lets see the things that have turned me away: Thunderbirds, any type of robot show, Bit Chats, commercials with TTV taking up 70% of them, in show advertisements, ect. This is a technology network. Not a music network. ItÂ’s starting to look like MTV anyway. I really feel for the others who lost their income because of this. Me, like a lot of others just wish it would be like before…TechTV. New Things. I turn it off.

Very sad to see you go, Chris. I made it a point to watch CFH everyday, and not to bad mouth Leo, but it just won't be the same. That won't stop me, though. TechTV made a mistake. I think TechTV will be rendered irrelevant very soon.
Leo's good, but he's not good enough to save the network. One guy does not a TV network make.

As I said I would, today I dumped Tech TV from my cable package.

I just cancelled my subscription to CFH's newsletter. Being that Chis no longer with TechTV, the newsletter wont help too much as I also cancelled digital service on my cable subscription as well. You know, the Discovery channel is much more fun to watch without the extra choices on digital.

TechTV has made a lot of bad decisions, but this is the worse to date. Watching your last show and before I found the bad news from yours and Leo's blog, I could tell something was wrong.
Yours was the only show I pretty much watch continuously and now that you are gone itÂ’s time to delete CFH from my TIVO.
You would think with Vulcan Ventures owners BILLIONS and BILLIONS, and BILLIONS of dollars and his fondness for tech that he wouldnÂ’t have bought TechTV and then systematically strip it of all that made it great.

Ok I checked out Leo's blog and found out that Everything will be OK. *exhales loudly* Cat is going to be on the Screen Savers and I guess Leo will host two shows. I thought that the Sreen Savers was being taken of air. I was wrong. I still wish it would have stayed the same though.

Chris, I wish you the best of luck. Even though I preffered Leo when you first started at TTV, I found later that you had a personality that was great for TV. I'm really really really glad to see Leo back, but I'll really miss you on the show. After reading in one of your Lockergnome newsletters (I think) that you were considering whether to sign a contract that could change your life or not, I assumed that you were offered a long-term deal at the network. It is definitely their loss, and a loss for all your loyal viewers. TechTV loses a true personality–no one but you could have done the CfH Marathon, foibles and all.

From F*Company.com: TechTV just canned about 20 employees, including some on-air people. Pirillo (also of Lockergnome fame) no longer hosts Call For Help, and Fresh Gear (Mmmmm… Sumi Das…..) ground into Tech Live. This means Chris Pirillo got laided off from Techtv, that sucks man!

Will miss Chris a lot. He answered a question for me on the show about 6 months ago. I have to admit in the beginning I thought he was a crazy little kid who did everything to gain creditability by associating himself to you Leo (i.e.–the Father and Son bit) and he was way to squeaky clean for me too. But as time went on we both loosened up and I could not think of a better replacement for you on CFH then Chris. With all the other people they tried I though Chris was a good fit. He gave a lot of youthful energy to Tech TV. He is among the past greats with John C. Dvorak and Jim Louderback (and Kate was fun to on TSS). But let me say how great it is that LEO IS BACK on his old show. I TiVo both CFH and TSS (and actually watch them religiously) everyday. Thanks for the shows. (Long time viewer, first time poster)

maaaaaaan - i was all watching CFH, you know - pretending like i don't know what a computer is, and then Leo poped up… i stared blankly at the screen for a minute… said to myself 'Cat should get nak… i mean, Leo's suppose to be on that show where i pretend i don't know what a partition is… what gives?!'. I had a moment of silence because you were all gone and all, then realised the only reason i really watch cfh is because it's on techTV (which, truthfully is the only reason i watch any of the call in shows… i'm more geek than Yoshi is - i watch it for Extended Play and Das). you know gnome, i'm still getting over Jessica Bordello leaving Extended Play, and now you pull this… i hate to see you go man, just PLEASE tell you that Kat's not going anywhere… because i'll straight up disown techTV.

Though, I haven't watched as closely as I did at one time, I will deffinetly miss seeing you on tv. I found tech tv one day while i was in my unfortunate un-employeement stage ( all 4 months of it) and in that time I fell in love with both CFH and TSS and so many more, i was heart broken to see Erica Hill go, she was so wonderful, but I am glad to see things are going well for her, and now you have left as well…. Whats next?? i hope no matter what you do you are happy in life. You WILL be missed, but never forgotten.

Chris, SERIOUSLY SPEAKING, I thought that you were on vacation. I tell you sir, you taught me all the tricks, tips, and other ideas which made me a stand-out in my computer class, I turned a lot of others on to CFH just because of the knowledge that you have. Leo takes up waaaayy too much time trivializing stuff. You really keep up with the latest info. or know someone who does. Your knowledge of technology will be most greatly missed. I was hoping that they would extend your show to 90 minutes and re-aire it instead of those TSS bore's. TSS tried to simply be entertaining so they began to lack information. Your show became entertaining because it was informative. Your guests and “free files” greatly outweighed that of TSS. I feel that the evil Leo decided to take over the greater show so as to have more people see him. It is just the opposite, I have now turned my attention elsewhere. I thank you Chris for the “Call-for-Help-a-thon” you had around Christmas and I am so glad I taped all eighteen hours of the show. I now have a lot of information I can learn from. PLEASE KEEP ME INFORMED WHEN YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER TELEVISION SHOW. I NEED YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND IF I HAD A STATION I WOULD OFFER YOU THE HELM TO MAKE IT THE BEST OF TECHNOLOGY NETWORKS IT CAN BE. Chris, I respect your desion to leave Tech TV, but why? I thought you had a good time on the show Call For Help (from the way you acted on the show). I have gotten use to watching Leo host the show, but just like everyone else, I will miss you from Call For Help. I always setted up my VCR to record the show since it aired at 2:oo PM here and school got in the way. I became an advance user because of the show. Best of luck.

TechTV needs to fold and just syndicate CFH and TSS out to CNN or MSNBC. I was happy to see a non Leo host, thought you were entertaining. After your (severance?) agreement allows you to talk about what happen please do. I wonder if TechTV will still on the air when/if that happens.

I can't believe you left, Chris! You were honestly the only reason I even watched TechTV. The other day when I tuned in, it was Leo. Sorry, but I hate Leo. I just love your personality so much better. I searched the web, but can't find why you left! Please tell us! Or maybe just e-mail the people who care?

I for one am glad Chris is gone. Sorry Chris, but I just could not stand your voice or mannerisms. Your knowledge is decent but work on the delivery (including written).
I've been having issues with TechTV too. Too many people with no screen presence - Chris, Cat and the worst - Megan (thankfully on maternity leave). Who do I like? Morgan and Brett - look at how they present themselves compared to the rest. And what is with Screen Savers and the new women? I'm all for women in tech but stop using these producers who I honestly don't believe they know what they are reading off the teleprompters?

i couldn't believe that you're out of CFH… and techtv??? i just got hold of the news yesterday… it was because of you that i got stuck with techtv in the first place… at first, i thought you were on vacation or something… though i skipped watching CFH whenever Leo's the host… =) but after weeks of not seeing your name in the CFH newsletter and seeing mr Leo's face on the CFH website… i thought that there must be something wrong… and i did found the answer on techtv's message boards… i don't have anything against mr Leo but he's just too old for CFH… he's better off with TSS.. anyways… all my support goes with you Chris… enjoy life and live it to the fullest… GOOD LUCK!!! and this one's coming from the PHILIPPINES!!!!

I must say you did a fabulous job at call for help. Here are my thoughts on the absence: You didn't leave on your own terms. You must have had a contract that Tech TV is still honoring salary wise which explains why you'll tell all later (after the cash runs out). As far as personality goes, I liked your enthusiam and helpfullness. In reading some of your blog I did note that you don't hold back too much, which could have been the downfall with the Tech TV powers at be. It is a mystyery to me that Martin Sargent could get his own show there! It must be one of those “who you know” deals. I'll be looking forward to the “rest of the story!”.

I searched up and down when I realized that Leo is now hosting Call For Help! And I found Leo's blog which mentioned your site! And I had to manually key in the URL to get to April's blog! And, now I fully understand why you're not hosting CFH anymore! Ahhhh! I'm gonna miss you so much, especially the Ctrl-Alt-Del salute at the end of each show!

Call for help hasn't been the same since.
I suppose the NEW OLD HOST knows a thing or two, but he's trying to be “hip” & it's just not working. He just doesn't relate to the techy geeks. I've noticed that the callers are all older now.
I stopped watching CFH about a week later. Actually, I stopped watching TTV in general soon after that. Chris was IMHO the soul & rythym of CFH & TTV in general.
It was bad enough to be “released” from CFH, but to be replaced by Leo? *shudder* Just seeing poor Cat in there with him gives me the heebee jeebees. Talk about merging into the slow lane.

I just read some of the other blogs. Something just occured to me.
Chris was “let go” and Martin gets his own show?
This goes into the “What were they thinking” list, right next to “5 day deoderant pads” and “Brown Toilet paper”

You were the best host CFH ever had, man. Leo's not bad, but he makes the presentation of the show kind of bland and boring (though I'd rather see him over all the other guys they got at TTV). You made computer help exciting and something to look forward too. I'll miss seeing you and the crazy, cool ways you presented help. : D
Oh, and your Call For Help-A-Thon was IMO the BEST thing I ever saw on TechTV. I had the TV on the entire time, believe it or not, lol! Anyway, gonna miss ya on TV man.
