Dual Monitor Desktop Wallpaper
http://live.pirillo.com/ – Afrothunder – who uses and abuses the chat room – asked how he could get two wallpapers on a dual monitor setup.
Well, the problem is that Windows doesn’t come with the tools to use two wallpapers on two monitors – no surprise there – but there is a way you can get two wallpapers on a dual monitor setup. It’s a bit of a hack, but with any decent image editing program (read as: not MS Paint) you should be able to do it.
- First, have the desktop in focus and press the "Print Screen" button (often labeled "PrtScn" and is usually next to the F12 and "Scroll Lock" keys). This copies your entire desktop into the clipboard.
- Open your favorite image editor.
- Paste the image into your editor.
- Play around with the file by adding other images, splicing two wallpapers together, etc …
- Once you’re done, save the file and set it as your desktop wallpaper.
If you’re looking for images to use as desktop wallpaper try these great sites:

If you are using nVidia card/s, it is a standard feature with Desktop Manager>Desktops>Properties to “allow different backrounds per display” then select any 2 images….I assume this would apply to 2, 3 or more monitors, but not sure as I only have 2.

Actually, there IS a way to use two images as backgrounds in Windows XP.
Right click on your desktop and select Properties.
In the Dekstop tab, click Customize Desktop.
In the Web tab, click New.
In the New Desktop Item window, click Browse.
Browse to the image, select it and click OK.
Click OK all the way out of Display Properties.
The image will now be floating on your desktop (under all windows).
If you position your mouse towards the top of the image, you can drag, move and resize it. Just drag it to your other monitor, and click the maximize button to make it fit the screen! Much easier the slicing and dicing!

Neil – Does nVidia’s Vista utilities allow multi-monitor different backgrounds? I installed nVidia’s app and doesn’t let it in Vista, although I do recall it allowing me different backgrounds in XP.

Just found this post through Google. I have been looking around for dual monitor wallpapers for my new dual 20″ setup.
I found a free program called DisplayFusion that allows easy installation of dual monitor wallpapers — one on each monitor or one across both of them.
See:

I have been happy with it so far. I use it on Vista and have tested it on XP.

I got this to work in Vista but the instructions above left out something important… In Vista’s Control Panel -> Personalization -> Desktop Background; the option to “Tile” the selected picture must be selected.
