I know this is BS, something is going on…I have a bunch of family members that ordered the converters, because they have no cable and there anxious to watch a clear set.

I think this is a big mess. Not everyone has money but they can afford antenna tv’s but nothing else. This is going to affect anyone with a regular tv that doesn’t wanna pay any money.

I think the gov should just shell out the money that they don’t even have to pay for everyones upgrade!!! Let em deal with it!!!…

There has been enough warning. The government just needs to bite the bullet and make the transition. It doesn’t matter when the transition is, some people still are going not know that the analog channels have been eliminated. This is just one of those things that has to be undertaken and implemented with the acceptance of people not knowing that there is going to be a transition.

I think the whole “convert to digital mandated by the government” is, once again, heavily lobbied by special-interest groups who stand to make money – you know, your friendly neighborhood cable company?

TV broadcasting’s survival does NOT rest on everyone going digital. Our economy does NOT rest on everyone going digital. It’s a non-necessity item that should never have been started to begin with. Also, some of the public television providers are hurting greatly because of the switch. The local one here, WTVP Peoria, IL, almost went off the air because the switch to digital nearly bankrupt them.

As for coupons, they’ve long run out, although I am sure more will be on the way.

As for me, yes, I have cable so I’ll be fine. However, what about my retired, elderly aunt who lives in a waaaay back rural area of Wayne County, Illinois? What about all the folks out in the sticks who still have motorized antennas and rabbit ears?

I’m all for Congress moving the date to June. In fact, I wouldn’t be too heartbroken if they kicked the regulation out the door for good.

Even though I don’t have a converter box, yet. I don’t plan on getting one. Government just need to get there buts in gear and just convert. People are lazy. There has been many of news stories where people’s 40dollar voucher expired. Just convert so I can sell my T.V.

This is going to be a problem. A lot of people will be like: hey look nothing happen Feb 17 so screw it. This making people more unlikely to get a box.

There are people who can’t read English and don’t know how will it affect them. There are also elderly people that just hear them but don’t know how will it affect them.
Even though they delayed the DTV transaction, some stations will switch still on February 17, 2009. There are even cities that only broadcast in digital right now.

My uncle, who relies on broadcast signals for the local stations and also has an HDTV, was already ready. He just plugged up the antenna to the built-in digital tuner on the HDTV and began enjoying really great quality images. You can tell it’s very clear, HD. My grandparents haven’t switched yet (analog signal’s good enough for them as is), but they’re ready with their coupons for the converter boxes.
