Fun review Chris, but you are adding to consumer confusion about sweeteners! A sugar is a sugar, whether it’s honey, high fructose corn syrup, table sugar, cane sugar or from fruit juices. As a registered dietitian, I work with young adults who are misled by comments that imply “natural sugar” is different from other sweeteners in regard to health benefits. Replacing high fructose corn syrup with sugar will not reduce obesity or improve health. Taste preference is another issue.
Please provide science based facts that will help consumers make informed choices for healthy lives.

Don’t forget about bottled water!
No sugar or calories (ha, or taste).
But make sure to avoid brands with Fluoride (’Fl”), as again this chemical ‘byproduct’ has no place in our foods.
Wow, I sound very conspiracy today.
But its all true. The voices keep telling me!

Hey system001,
You’re right about us diabetics needing to avoid sugar, in any form. However, Aspartame and other chemically manufactured sweeteners aren’t the answer, as they would do more harm than sugar (hence ‘chemically manufactured’).

If you absolutely need soda, try Zevia, it is sweetened with Stevia, a natural sweetener (also available as packets or liquid form to add to your own drinks or foods). Ha, all tho I’ve never tried Zevia, as its only available in the U.S., so it may taste horrible. I’d recommend making your own drinks with natural sweeteners, or what I do is drink coffee with very little sugar, still WAY less than a pop. Just my 2 cents.

As with anything, most things (legal) are usually okay in moderation. High fructose corn syrup is high calorie just like sugar and bad for you in large amounts. Trans fats and high fructose corn syrup and the boogeyman are all marketing techniques used to deter poor sales when unsubstantiated rumors are spread. A good example, KFC, no trans fat, do you think the food is good for you though god no.

Peanut butter=no trans fat (okay)
enormous amounts of saturated fat (ohh)

This is actually not so new. Many of the soft drink companies provide their drinks made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup at passover time. Might only be in the high density jewish area but it is not uncommon. In addition, go to a “hispanic” grocery store and you will find coke in the old time bottles. These are also made with sugar and it is the same when you go to Mexico.

I don’t know about pepsi natural but here in Illinois we just got pepsi throwback with real sugar. It is called pepsi throwback and being a pepsi-holic I love it. Coke sucks

Haven’t seen Pepsi Natural yet in New Mexico. Mexican Coca Cola (also with cane sugar) is pretty good.

This stuff is amazing! One of the things I noticed right off was there was no aftertaste. With high fructose corn syrup there is a slight, but noticable slightly bitter aftertaste. Not with Pepsi Throwback (what it is called around here.) It has a clean break after the flavor dissapates on the palate. I am completely sold. My fear is that they will discontinue it, because it is more expensive to make, and since it is not as prevalent, they may let it go away, thinking there is not enough demand. Oh well.

Pepsi Natural is awful. I was so excited to find a soda with natural sugar (I live close enough to mexico that I can get, for a premium, Coke with real sugar), but the changes in the pepsi formula beyond the sweetener are terrible. It tastes like sickly sweet, carbonated tea.
Pepsi Throwback, on the other hand, is epic.

did you know that those so called crappy artificial sweetener diabetics need to be able have certain foods that would normally call for sugar. as fore sugar or high fructose corn syrup they are equally bad for you. our obesity problem in this nation in large part can be contributed to sugar or high fructose corn syrup in almost all prepackaged foods. rather a company chooses to use sugar or high fructose corn syrup in their product the end product will taste the same. this was one of the main reasons for creating high fructose corn syrup. companies have recently started claiming to have natural sugar in their product in an effort to persuade you into believing that sugar is not bad for you. in truth sugar and high fructose corn syrup are two of the worst thing you can put into your body.

We have that in the UK its called Pepsi Raw, I ain’t tried it due to it coming in a pack of 4 glass bottles and being ridiculously expensive, I was told it was horrible, I’ll need to find out, But then again people think Irn-Bru is disgusting, I’ll see about making a side by side video just for you lol
