I prefer the open source Celestia software. Its cool because you can zoom around galaxies, as well as load custom models like star trek and star wars ships.

man universe sandbox is fun you can mess with the gravity of the plants like earth and make black holes and watch every thing get sucked up.

As a Fan Google earth and Live earth I would have to say this would be a cool program. I could think of some pretty fun things to do mostly involving destruction lol

if this is a repeat sorry my i didn’t get any identification if i posted or not. but anyways i had some of this type of software called starry. it was fun until my windows 98 machine went down. all i have is a mac and i dont want to buy new software. macs rule.

For those running a XP/Vista box, there is really neat application from Microsoft Research called World Wide Telescope. It allows you to select a area of the nighttime sky and then zoom in to see what that area looks like through the telescope. You can get from:

Note: It’s a little graphic intensive so your system need to have a fast processor (dual core, or 2Ghz or faster single core) and a good graphics card (128MB or higher). Also, you need to have a fast internet connection.

I love using SkyChart on my Palm Centro cell phone. When I see something in the sky at night with the kids and they ask what it is I pull up SkyChart and check to see what it is.My other favorite site is Heavens Above. You can plug in your location and it will tell you what time bright solar reflections will be bouncing off of satellites.My favorite story about this is a guy was outside with his kids and he told them he knew one of the astronauts on the Space Shuttle. Of course the kids didn't believe him so he pretended to call on his cell phone. He knew exactly when an Iridium flare would be happening. So he told his "astronaut friend" to "flash the high beams on the Shuttle". Then they both looked up in the sky and saw a flash. Coolest Dad in the world that day!

Well, i dont really like Universe Sandbox. It’s my opinion.

I like Celestia, to fly through the universe and discover planets, stars, moons and all that stuff. Just google it.
