Do You Use Plaxo?
According to a message I just received, “-214748364% of [my] contacts are using Plaxo.” Plaxo is pretty annoying – but also relatively useful. Annoying, only because I hate installing invasive, bloated software; useful, only because there's no other easy way to keep your contact list up-to-date. Ponzi installed it on her machine and inadvertently sent a note out to all of my contacts (since that Net Folder is currently being shared). I got tired of getting pummeled every other day with Plaxo blasts from friends, so I wound up creating a Plaxo profile on the network – making it infinitely easier to send that information to whoever might request it. I didn't download or install Plaxo, however. There are so many people using it these days, that I find it difficult to enter / share my information through any other proprietary network; it's starting to get rediculous, with the multitude of 'me-too' social networks out there.

Just came across this site: http://www.getvcard.com, a less obtrusive way of keeping your contacts updated…

Hi Chris!
We saw your post over here at Plaxo and we found the problem. There was a divide by 0 bug because you don't have any contacts in your address book ;) Rest assured, the fix is checked in and will be shipped in the next release.
If anything else comes up or you have any feedback for our product, you can always contact me directly. Thanks!

I use Plaxo, and I'm a little confused by the way it keeps getting paired with social networking software programs like LinkedIn. It's not really a networking software in that you can't share your contacts with anyone. About the only thing you can do is send a mass email asking people to update their own card in your address book, or send them an email with your updated information. I really love the service as this is the first move in years where I haven't lost my address book and I've managed to get my holiday card address list updated with much less hassle than usual. Also for the first time, I've managed to keep in touch with all my friends who have moved or changed email addresses in the last 3 months without 'losing' them.
