Do You Spend too Much Time on the Internet?

That horrible sound I make at the beginning of this video represents time being sucked out of our day by spending too much time on the Internet. If you’re trying to manage your time, you should consider trying this service that I found.

KeepMeOut is designed to help you manage the time that you spend on any given website(s) you choose. Enter a web address of a site that is a time-sucker for you, such as Facebook, Twitter or even Geeks. Bookmark the KeepMeOut alias that is created, and only navigate to that site(s) by using the new bookmark. KeepMeOut will warn you if you have visited the site more than once in the time period you specified (such as 60 minutes, etc).

Why would I do this? Well, if I know that I am addicted to a site that is sucking up too much of my time, I can use KeepMeOut to keep me in check. I can walk away and do something else. Wicket, for instance, has a serious addiction to his Facebook account. I’ve had to install KeepMeOut just to get time on my own computer!

“can i help u?” lulz. making a post about this post on my site. wicket is silly.

This video os definitely too long. My Mac says “You have been visiting chris.pirillo.com longer than 60 seconds, now kick your ass and press Ctrl+Right Arrow to get back to your work space.” This ain’t nice.
Your dog is cool, you should make more shows with it!

I really hope u reply to that.
The Website is a pretty good idea. But as I’m a computer geek and know how to break barriers but also be addicted to the internet this site won’t help me that much – sadly.
I even tried to run a massiv security blocker and stuff and blocked these addicting sites during the week. but I know my mac and I know how to undo this blockade.
I would like to know a blockade too hard to break. do you know any?

I don’t wanna tell u how good I am in breaking blockades. I wanna try to break my addiction.
please answer. it hopefully would help me.

I’m sure going to need that, since I browse on Facebook and YouTube a little TOO much. Same with Twitter… too many sites… thanks for the recommendation!

huh? there is nothing else but the internet…or is there?

Tell someone you’ve spent three hours reading (a book) & you’re lauded. Tell them you watched a 3 hour documentary or miniseries on TV- nods of approval.

Tell them, “I just spent three hours on my computer”- TSK! TSK! TSK!

What a bizarre double-standard. I chalk it up to ignorance/intimidation of tech or dinosaur mentality towards tech.

Either way- a bunch of hypocrites.
