I happen to love audio – especially when it’s music from the new and exciting GeeksRadio.fm. GeeksRadio is launching on December 15th. It’s made by Geeks – for Geeks. They will be playing a wide variety of music, with several different types of on-air personalities. If you’re interested in being a part of this new venture, be sure to click the contact button on the site! Also, make sure you join us for the official launch party on December 15th at 6pm EST. I know I’ll be there, and Santa Claus plans to make a special guest appearance!

So when I’m listening to music, should I use earbuds, or headphones? I think it’s a matter of personal preference for everyone, really. It depends on your level of comfort, and what your needs are. I’ve reviewed several different types in the past, so when I was given the opportunity to review the Purebuds, I jumped at the chance.

The blasting sound of most earbuds can potentially damage your sensitive ear drums in which could lead to hearing loss. Purebuds utilizes the revolutionary Reverse Sound Technology to keep your ears feeling safe and listening safe, all day long. The innovative design of the Purebuds channel the sound away from your ear drums for crystal clear audio reproduction reducing the likelihood of potential ear damage. Purebuds delivers you just that, pure & safe sound.

Purebuds goes one step further to deliver you an incredible digital audio listening experience with the special effect audio enhancements it provides. Your Purebuds Headphones come with three different earbud tips. While conventional earbuds provide some earbud tips in a vague attempt to give a variation in size or comfort, we’ve decided to turn the earbud world on it’s ear, so to speak. Each earbud tip provides a different audio ambiance effect, allowing you to customize your listening experience without having to buy three pairs of specialized headphones. No matter which tip you choose, you can rest assured that our innovative “Safe-Sound” technology will bring you pure sound.

What really makes these different is the way they were constructed. Instead of pointing in, the speaker faces outward, and then is dynamically filtered back in. The Purebuds come with three different sets of tips. One is an all-purpose version, another is designed for more bass, and the last specifically caters to surround-sound.

Wow. These are very comfortable, and really deliver what they promise. I never would have thought that rubber tips on an earbud could make so much of a difference, but they do. It’s a very rich sound, and an excellent experience.

PC, general music and gaming: Sennheiser HD series (headphones)

iPod, travelling: Sennheiser CX 300 earphones!

I am one who prefers over the ear headphones massively over earbuds. Just because of comfort like you mentioned.
Most if not all earbuds are absolutely a pain in the ear for me because it seems my ear canal was created 2x smaller than the average persons so they never fit. When wearing earbuds for longer than a few moments I’ll always come out with bruises in my ear.
Another reason I prefer headphones is simply for sanitary reasons. Sure over the ear head phones will also collect dead skin and sweat so I suppose it’s just mental thing for me. No matter how much I could clean my earbuds they would still feel filthy to me. Also it always seems that when someone says “hey check out this song!” they then hand me me a pair of well loved earbuds…. I would feel much more comfortable listening to someone’s ipod if they handed me over the ear or on the ear headphones as opposed to earbuds(I’ll actually refuse to wear other people’s earbuds.)
After your review I would love to try these(or custom earbuds *drools*) because I’m constantly seeking better audio than I had yesterday, however, I don’t think I could commit to buying earbuds when they generally seem to be made for the average ear canal which is always larger than mine.

I Prefer earbuds myself and I must say I am excited about these purebuds… Gotta try them

Well, i haveve never had Pure buds, i use Skull Candy ear buds, and a headset when on the computer.

I have heard all this stuff about ear buds ruining someones hearing… but why do people have to listen to music as loud as the mp3 player goes?

i love ear buds, they are comfortable, and are good for exercising. id rather wear ear buds than some set of head phones that look goofy, and fall off every time you take a step.

But that’s just my opinion, id love to try Pure buds! sounds like they help out a lot!

I believe there is other headphones out there that will let you listen when the bud isn’t in your ear! When I first saw it, I was astounded by it because I’ve never heard of earbuds that don’t go in your ears. But yes there is. They allow the sound to vibrate off the bone in front of your ear and then the sound travels into your ear canal. I also found out that these can also be worn legally while driving. This is deal-would one compromise comfortability and sound quality with head phones that you can listen to that doesn’t go in your ear? Because some people can not put earphones in their ear, I think that compromise would be worth the trouble.
