I think they make good giveaways at seminars, product demos etc…
Personally, I don’t like them as gifts tho.

Akin to a gift card IMO… “I couldn’t think of anything good to get you, so I got this pen!”

That’s just me, tho.

Obviously, for Ponzi, they make great gifts… if you get the right one. :-)

More importantly, isn’t `ink pen’ redundant?

My grandmother used to make toast bread and drink soda water. I don’t hear any of those phrases anymore (I’m roughly ten years your senior).

My wife has a thing for pens too. It borders on psychosis. What’s even more frightening is when she gets together with other similarly-affected people and talks pens. They wind up saying the same things.

Perhaps someday soon, modern medicine will come up with a cure for penophilia.

Well, I am an architecture major in college, so getting drafting pencils wouldn’t be a bad gift =]. Also my uncle collects fancy pens and such so he would get pens as gifts, too.

Have a pen made from one of the original Charter Oaks from the grounds of an old (1720’s) Pennsylvania church. Makes it almost too special to write with, but I do – all the while thinking I need better penmanship.

Absolutely, as long as they are a quality writing instrument. I don’t need a good looking paper weight in my shirt pocket if it doesn’t feel good in the hand and write with very little resistance.

My aunt’s father also makes pens, and I’ve seen him do his work at a couple of craft shows (he has his lathe set up in his booth and has pen blanks ready, so he can make them right there). In fact, I remember when my mom ran into a deer with her van. After she got to her brothers house and told him about the deer, his father-in-law (the pen crafter) asked if she got the antlers from the deer because he can use deer antlers in some of his designs (I might’ve remembered seeing him carving antlers into pens). The variety of designs he can make with pens is interesting.
