I find it interesting that you posted this on the same day that Roger the Computer Repair Guy Wiped Out My Microsoft Outlook and all my contacts with it.

Only issues that I have had with Firefox is the fact that certain plugins don't work right the first time, ie: Flash sites. Outside of that no problems. I use Thunderbird as a email and rss client, and only one problem at first was sending email, but got that fixed. I used Incredimail for a long time, but after I formatted my hard drive, and reinstalled XP, I could not get Incredimail to work right.

I've almost totally switched over to Firefox except for two sites that require IE. Fortunately, Firefox has succeeded as my browser of choice for almost a year now. Besides it's stability (I'm confused also as to the 'instability' of Firefox Chris…It's rock solid on my SUSE Linux machineas well as various Win2k, Win2k3 and XP machines), one very nice feature Firefox has is the myriad of Extensions that have been developed. Thanks to the “Open in IE” extension, all I have to do is right-click on the links to the two troublesome sites and Open Link Target in IE.
A lot of the Themes I've seen are nothing more than eye candy, however the Noia 2.0 eXtreme theme is a great usability enhancement for Firefox, and would be for IE too if there were a version for it.
Then there's the security issue with IE. Even with my copy of IE all wrapped up as tight as I can get it, I still always ended up with “Browser Enhancements” installed and spyware galore. Ad-Aware rarely finds any baddies on any of my machines anymore. I'm sure IE can be reasonably secure if configured properly. Microsoft went a long way towards doing that for us with XP SP2. If you're not running Win2k, Win2k3 or XP…well, you're out of luck.
As Firefox converts more and more IE users, it may only be a matter of time before the bad guys turn thier attention to beating up on Firefox. As a result, there is the remote possibility that we could start seeing Firefox “Vulnerability of the Week” alerts. I doubt it though.
When it comes to PIMs, my PDA is a nice bridge between Outlook 2003 at work (no IMAP support yet) and Act! in my home office. As a long time Act! user, who also uses Outlook daily, I can honestly say that both products have their place – but for Contact Management (plus everything else you expect in a PIM) Act! is the better of the two.
So there's my, very long, two cents. :-)

dont b a loser and drop ur ego at the door, firefox is much lighter cleaner and more stable than mozilla or ie anyday. tabbed browsing, multiple search engines(ebay, amazon, google, dictionary.com, mouse gestures, plug ins galore, skinnable…the list goes on,never crashe don me even way back since the .7 release. try the 1.0 version and give it a try…

chris, if ur not ready to like firefox yet then something is wrong with u not the other way around, the latest build of firefox is very very stable. how can u judge something u dont activly use? try it and u will see.

I don't use outlook, got to the point I hate outlook express, so I am very much into Mozilla Thunderbird on both my mac and PC. I love it.
As for mac, I still prefer camino as a browser, and firefox for the pc.

I agree with the comment above me, i've been using firefox for quite some time now, not a single thing went wrong.........unlike IE. Firefox is much easier to use, in my opinion, then IE, and it's just alot cooler. To me, it feels more secure, maybe you possibly have a virus lurking around somewhere. Here's a virus scan site, i know all the stereotypes that say polish people are stupid, but this is a polish virus scan site and it's worked great for me. I tryed norton and what not, didnt find any viruses, I tryed this, it found 2 viruses. So here's the address . Since it's in polish, look on the right and find skaner on-line, spelt like that, make sure no pop-up blockers are on, click your drive and hit this bottom right button. Okay now I know I got off track and this has nothing to do with Chris' email problem, but I just wanted to spread the word about the program and this just seemed right. Anyways, have yourselfs all a merry little christmas.

Chris – after you catch your breath from this rant maybe you *should* check out Barca. It's quite nicely done, has an excellent scripting language for automation, and lacks on PDA sync (promised) to be completely Outlook competitive.
Of course it doesn't have all the add-ins Outlook does but we know (now) how you feel about BLOATED software now don't we?

Should checkout Barca from Pocosystems.com. In my opinion it is the top outlook killer. Barca is made by the folks that brought PocoMail, which has been recommended many times on the now defunct TechTV.

Just curious, but what's crashing Firefox on you? Is it certain sites or pluggins? I can't get PDFs to work with Firefox, but it hasn't crashed on me in over a year. I can't say the same for IE, it seems to crash everytime I use it — never had much luck with PDF's with it either. I run Firefox on XP, OS X, Linux and Freebsd and it's very stable for me. maybe I'm just lucky. I've removed IE from OS X and I've disabled it on XP –as much as that's possible. My XP box seems much more stable when I don't use Microsoft apps and I think it's because so much of their software depends on the browser engine. How are you liking Seattle? I used to live in Port Orchard and really miss it.
