DEFCON Game for Windows, Linux and OS X

The guys who hang out with me on Ventrilo recently got hooked on a PC game called DEFCON. After they explained it all to me, I had to try it for myself. The demo is fully-functioning, and free! It has excellent graphics, and a stellar soundtrack that you can now buy on iTunes. DEFCON is definitely addictive, and a lot of fun.
Wirelesspacket explained the premise of the game. Remember the movie WarGames with Matthew Broderick? In the movie, the character Joshua showed the continents and the missiles being launched. This game is almost the same exact interface. Not only are there nuclear weapons, there are fighter planes, radar, and you have to build your own air bases and defenses. You must defend your Homeland, while trying to destroy the other areas.
According to the game manufacturer:
It’s Global Thermonuclear War, and nobody wins. But maybe - just maybe - you can lose the least.
This game is becoming so popular, you can buy the soundtrack and poster, or even use the screen saver!
Watch as Wirelesspacket plays the demo of this game for you… live!

Let me know what other games you know of that are just excellent, and may be under the radar. We hear so often about the expensive games, that really cool ones like this tend to go unnoticed.

I know your not a ‘gamer’ chris, but im delighted you have discovered this game.
Question: Did you play Uplink?
The production company behind defcon, Introversion, created Uplink back in 2001. This is also a gem of a game despite its age. You play a hacker hacking into computer mainframes worldwide, stealing money from peoples bank accounts or just wrecking peoples lives by changing their social security information.
It is brilliant and easily purchased online. Worth a look.
Especially for computer geeks…

wow ambrosia sw. They got good stuff. the fact that it was a partnership between them and another company is a good sign. I really used to like Harry The Handsome Executive and ARES. The shame is that they are not OSX compatable and CERTAINLY not intel mac compatable. Time for a sequel or an emulator.

FINALLY! Look, I was EB games one day. And there it was, looking at me. The second I saw screen shoots of the game I knew I must have it. It takes extreme tactics and thourogh thought in what you’re doing. One day I want to play this on a huge projection screen like in the movie.
***Look threw my videos if you want to see gameplay of the game.

There was only one game marathon and it wasn’t that good even though it is a continuation of what happens after the halo trilogy. You cannot not denie the fact that microsoft has published some way better games then Mac.
