Dead Pixel Fixer Upper

Dead pixels ressurected? Through a few of my favorite sites, I discovered that PSP-Vault has uploaded a video that allegedly unsticks stuck pixels – a problem that has plagued many a screen. My screen appears to be flawless, I'm happy to say. However, Ponzi's LCD screen has a single red dead pixel holdout to the right of top center. I thought I'd give 'er a spin, although I have no results to report – which doesn't truly constitute a failure. Stuck pixels are annoying, especially to perfectionists. The only time Ponzi notices the thing (stuckel? spuckel? stixel?) is when that general portion of her screen is darker, or she's not using one of her favorite wallpaper images in the background.

So far, it has worked around 60% of the time. I tried it on my friend's that had 6 stuck pixels, and it fixed them all. The only real thing you can do is set the video to repeat and leave it on for a few hours. In Version 2.0, I have added a white screen and a black screen, so you can periodically check to see if your pixels have been fixed. This video works with all versions of the PSP, from 1.00 to 1.52; good luck with it to all of you.

I've got the “stuck pixel fixer” video currently running in a QuickTime window (largely because I can't find the repeat function in Media Player Classic). Anybody else have a bit of unstuck luck with this dead pixel fix?

Altough I don't believe that LCD dead pixels can be fixed by a video (lol? I wish I had a LCD screen to check it… sigh..), I can tell you where is the repeat function in MPC :)

Hmm, I'll pass this along to a friend of mine who's PSP has a dead pixel, I'm skeptical a video can fix it but hey.. it's worth a shot

Didn't do a thing for my monitor but the LSD flashbacks were GREAT!

Hey, i tried this video on my laptop which has a 1027×766 32 bit coloring screen. It has some white pixles ( a giant clump 1 cm by 1cm) and i tried the video. They have been steadily been getting worse and the video hasnt helped one bit. I once had it going for 48 hours even. No Progress. New screens are about $500 can and up. Almost as much as to get a new laptop with a better screen and just take that screen and put it on ur current one or if the new laptop is better than just use that. I did try it on a friend's screen however, and it worked perfectly. Therefore, i must assume that my screen has dead pixels and have to cough up $500 can. I did some more reading and found that if your pixles are stuck and either white or black colored then they are generally dead. A good solution if you are a prefectionist is to have a white desktop and just dont watch movies. I hope you have found this post useful. If you have any questions feel free to email me at vancouvercomputerprofessional@gmail.com.I should respond within a month as i am still in highschool and have exams coming up. Bye.

well i tried the video, i have one green stuck pixel and after 24 hours of running time it actually fixed. i couldnt believe it but sure enough it was gone. then after my computer restarted twice it peeked its head out once again, so this time im going to run that video for 48 hours

Don’t confuse dead pixels with stuck pixels. Red, green, or blue pixels are “dead” and can never be fixed. Black or white pixels, however, are “stuck” or “frozen” and can be thawed with tool like this one.

Use these tools at your own risk! These videos work LCD monitors to the bone, rapidly flipping pixels from one colour to its inverse and back again. It is VERY likely that you will break pixels instead of (or inaddition to) fixing the broken ones.

Brian… I heard the opposite. Black ones are dead and can’t be fixed. Blue, red, green… those are “stuck” and MAYBE can be fixed. As you said, you do take a risk w/ these vids.

I have the exact same problem as Ponzi. A stuck red pixel on my 17″ x2gen LCD monitor
