Dave Thomas Death
Immediately after reading Christine's post in a recent C:\PIRILLO.EXE comment thread, I scoured the Web for more information on Dave Thomas's death. This is what I uncovered:
Thomas, 69, died early Tuesday of liver cancer at his Florida home, the company said. He had suffered from a carcinoid tumor, a slow-growing cancer, for more than a decade. Thomas retired as chairman of Wendy's in 1982. Though he no longer actively managed the company, he had appeared in commercials for Wendy's since 1989, when he became the official company spokesman.
Ironically enough, I mentioned Wendy's in the last of yesterday's blog entries. I haven't seen any other bloggers talking about Dave this morning, though. Perhaps news travels slower on Tuesdays? Regardless, my sympathies to those who knew Dave.

Oh no! I didn't know that! Aw, man… he was one of the nicest and friendliest faces in commercials…
One of the funniest facest in commercials died on Sunday… Avery Schrieber. The heavy mustached guy who crunched on Doritos.

After I was IM'd about it, I searched the main news sites for more information too – and couldn't find anything. Then I was IM'd the article that I linked to at Yahoo – but I still haven't seen much more. I am still bummed. And as soon as I heard it I came back here, because I remembered your “occasional Wendy's” comment. Reinforcing the “small world” concept again.
