Dave Hills on Looksmart and Furl

While walking the floor at Search Engine Strategies in San Jose, we noticed something different in the Looksmart booth - Furl. If you’ve never used this awesome bookmarking tool, take it for a test spin; it will change your entire view of bookmarking. Looksmart was also one of the few companies with any public advertisement of RSS as part of their offerings. While the consumer in me latches on to the useful features of combining the smart bookmarking of Furl with my dialing surfing needs, Looksmart also offers some compelling services for content publishers and people looking to market their product to a qualified audience. Chris talked with Looksmart CEO, Dave Hills, about Furl, Looksmart and their role in online publishing and search.

The fact that the Spurl front page announces as I write that Spurl is “currently forced to offer reduced functionality due to heavy spam attacks” does little to give me confidence that this is a well-run, reliable service built to last, unlike theLookSmart-backed Furl. I have no compunction in eliminating Spurl from consideration. Blinklist is the most interesting of the set. Of all of the services I’ve discussed, I’d say Blinklist has the best-presented
