Danger, Will Robinson

To this point, I've avoided talking / writing about the situation with Iraq. I'm concerned, but not for political reasons; I believe in giving peace a chance, but I also believe that if you're a danger to yourself and others around you, you should be removed from public. FURO.COM” href=”http://www.furo.com/archives/week_2003_03_02.html#000118″>Furo piped up this morning after a few months of blogging silence. What he scribbled is worth reviewing: “I've grown so sick of people discounting the threat of chemical weapons that I thought I'd break my usual lack of political discussion… This won't go
in the newsletter, of course, but thought y'all might be interested in a few facts.”

OK… That's disturbing.

Worry about Korea … George and Korea … it's BAD.

Chris, thanks for posting this link. I hope that people will take the time to read, listen, and understand this threat to the world. In years gone by, it used to be said that we should “listen to our elders.” There are still lots of folks around who have been personally involved in our country's wars. I don't believe any of them ever liked what they had to do or what they saw, but certainly they knew it was far better than the alternative. Now is the time for us to listen to our elders about the dangers certain men, oceans away, pose to mankind. I certainly hope that the fact that 3 times more people have posted messages concerning gnome ****** than have posted about this subject is not a reflection on other geeks level of caring about this subject. Pray for peace, prepare for war.

Some Americans and foreign leaders want the U.N. to take the lead on Iraq. That, of course, is a joke. The United Nations stood by and allowed a half-million people to be slaughtered in Rwanda, allowed massive atrocities in Bosnia and Kosovo, created chaos in Somalia, and failed dismally in Sierra Leone. The U.N. has no power, no will and no sense of fairness. It's essentially a public-relations outfit.

Rob, you hit it right on the nose. And it's not a very good P.R. outfit either. You get more for your money on Madison Avenue.

Give peace a chance? Where has everyone been since '91? He has been GIVEN the chace and only complies when he feels he wants to. Sadaam is an evil man and needs to be taken out of the equation. There will be peace when he is gone.
