The real question is can Vista trump Tiger... I think the answer is no.

Don't get me wrong here, Im not an Apple cheerleader or a Microsoft hater (though I become more of one daily)...

But what's in Vista... like seriously?
- You have the same insecure Kernel (they've already hooked it without it throwing up warning flags)

- You have aero (which does nothing but make windows uglier and even harder to navigate)

- You have DX10 (which is nothing but a microsoft market share grab so they can unify coding between X-Box360 and PC)

-You have an enormous price-tag.

All the things that *might have at one point justified upgrading have been nerfed or removed*. You know, things such as:

-WinFS (Don't let MS fool you about Vista searching capabilities- they're worse than XP and nowhere even in the vicinity of coming close to nearly approaching spotlight)

-32bit HD Support (64bit Kernel only)

-Better memory management (memory management still sucks, perhaps worse than ever... they just have more of it to abuse)

The bottom line is, Tiger is a better OS than Vista and it's been on the market for over a year. The only thing Windows does better than OS-X is take just about any combination of hardware on earth and run it under on OS... but that advantage is rapidly eroding away, as half the hardware on planet earth has either:
1: No vista driver
2: No 64bit support
3: All the above.

Sooner or later people will catch on that OS-X really is just better, and I have a feeling it'll be around the time that Windows Apps can execute natively within OSX... which ain't but a hop skip and a jump away.

Cheers all!

Chris, the mouse thing is ridiculous. First of all, there is shareware called SideTrack that will let you right-click on the MacBook Pro. It's not yet a univeral binary, so it only works with the older Powerbooks/iBooks, but the point is the functionality will be there soon and was there with previous generation notebooks: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20854
Secondly, just plug in any USB mouse and you have all the mouse buttons you want, including the Mighty Mouse, which I use. It's not like OS X doesn't work with right-clicking.
Lastly, Apple hardware might be more expensive than the typical plastic-laden crap from Best Buy slapped with tacky Intel/MS stickers, but as with other things in life like luxury autos and fine wine, you get what you pay for. Surely, this small premium isn't a deterrent factor for you. Apple's high prices is a MYTH and they are fairly responsible when you look at what you get, combined with the fact that Macs seem to have longer lifespans than PCs.
BTW, I am writing this on my 20" iMac Core Duo. Switcher since 2004 and never going back!

Okay, first of all, saying the only thing holding you back from getting a MacBook Pro is that it only has one mouse button is BEYOND ASININE. Seriously. How many times can you fulfill the same stereotypes? Get past it. This is like not buying a car because you don't like the door handle. It's idiocy.
Second, most of that list sounds like pure nonsense. It sounds like the kinds of things people make up when they describe what THEY would want in an OS.
