Comcast Technician Falls Asleep: The Interview

So I was sitting there in my chair, taking calls on the 888-PIRILLO line. Normally, the callers have a tech-related question to ask. I was shocked when this caller identified himself not only as a fan… but also as the guy who snapped pictures of a Comcast Tech sleeping on his couch!

Chris and his family were having issues with their DVR. They called Comcast, and waited a few days for a Technician to come out. The guy shows up finally, looks around, and then says he had to go into the basement to check everything out down there. About an hour later, they went downstairs to see why he was taking so long… they found the Tech sleeping on the futon on his son’s pillow!!

Chris then woke up the Tech to ask what he was doing. The Tech claimed that he was on hold on the phone. About half an hour later, he went back down there… and found the Tech sleeping AGAIN. Chris made him leave the house, outraged. The Tech then went outside and got in his truck, propped up his feet, and spent a half an hour on the phone. He didn’t fix anything. He didn’t leave any paperwork, nothing. Chris called Comcast to complain, and wasn’t even given an apology. Comcast simply told him they’d be out again in a few days.

The next day, the family returned home from an outing, to find all the cable wires on the side of their house had been cut OFF. All of them had been completely cut through. He called Comcast, and they claimed they had never done anything… but did admit that the Technician who had slept in his house had gotten fired. Strange coincidence? I think not. Chris called Comcast again, and asked them to come reconnect and fix everything… and was told he had to wait two to three days!

Long story short… they contacted the local news companies, who didn’t believe him until he showed them pictures. He then switched companies, and ditched Comcast altogether.

Hopefully with all the attention and now a class action suite they will be forced to change their policys.

Well the guy who came to my house from Road Runner to set it up when my Dad was switching from SBC Yahoo DSL actually said “How am I supposed to set it up with that?” and it was the modem from SBC Yahoo DSL!! xD LOL

if that happened to me, i would call the cops

Wow, that’s awful. I’ve never really had any problems with Comcast in middle Tennessee, so I’m assuming I’m just very lucky.

Time Warner Cable FTW!!!

Typical bullshit from Comcast. Believe me, I know. I work for them. I’m only in it for the money and the free services. Otherwise I’d be working somewhere else.

i bet that comcast employee was ghetto

OMG, that Comcast guy must be high on something. I just love my local cable co., they only service NW Ohio and SE Michigan and they have the best support ever, if there is a problem they are out the next day! On top of it never going down and I get 7MBPS with the option for 10!. Thank the lord that Comcast is not available in my area!

i have verizon fios and its the best.

dang, one of these days, comcast is gonna get the boot. ironically enough, i read this right after reading on how they paid people to sit in on their FCC public meeting thingy….

EPIC FAIL!!!!

omg…
this call was very crazy…
you out smarted the guy….
p.s watch out for shaping….!

I’ve had comcast people come to my house and do not have a clue what their doing so they call for 3 more trucks, just for a small modem problem. If a guy ever falls asleep in my house, hes getting tortured with..lol

its the comcast SUB-contracors mostly i have had decent experiences with the actual comcast employees but those sub-contractors are sketchy.

stop growing ****** trees in front of the telephone posts and maybe the squirrels are gonna stop chewing on your cables, then maybe you can stop crying about bad service

black wires are better than white wires outside, since the UV rays of the sun dont penetrate them,. black wires should go inside as less as possible since they burn faster in case of a fire…next time before laughing at a technician, inform yourself..we dont have to give you an explanation for every ****** thing, we got no time for that, the next customer is already crying that were late.

I have been getting what seems to be a live audio feed from your house whenever I launch a Pirillo link. This is not a good thing. Especially when domestic issues arise.

Please tell me how to kill the live feed when all I want is the specific link that I launched like…

Ok, I hate comcast as much as the next person, but the guy on the phone is an *******. Like how dare someone sleep in our house, I was pissed! If someone just did that to do it, then they’d be a jerk. But if that tech did that he may have had no sleep the night before or got suddenly very tired. It’s doubt he just thought it was a nice place to sleep. Instead of the guy and his wife figuring there was a problem they just get pissed. So yeah, they are ********.

Also the guy behind the desk talking to him is being an idiot too. “I wonder what kind of qualifications these guys have”. Like what in the hell does sleep have to do with qualifications? I have sometimes gotten pretty mad at comcast bull ****, fake service/help, but this had nothing to do with comcast. It just happened. I don’t think he was right to cut their wires, but who knows what this couple said to comcast. Maybe he deserved it, but the couple are still ********.

On top of it they had the nerve to post him everywhere on the internet as if that person didn’t even matter just because they were mad at their cable service. What in THE **** is wrong with people? Some new idiot will probably show up on youtube to argue with me to top it off. **** you too.

hell no dude ive worked utility not cable but gas lines and cable, gas, and electric lines run together so i know cable techs. if he was really sleepy and not a **** he could just tell the homeowner ive got a urgent or emergency call ill be back soon and take a hour snooze if he wanted it. i know i used to

I agree whole heartedly that NO Comcast tech should be sleeping anywhere in your house on a trouble call. But it is easy to fall asleep when dispatch has you on hold for over 45 minutes to an hour. And there are vendictive ex-employees lurking to screw over the person(s) they think got them fired. As for qualifications that techs have? Week long classes, college courses, hands on, and more long classes. Oh, Comcast isn’t supposed to drill through your floor without your consent first!!

what the *uck can’t u believe about some guy sleeping??? He’s on hold for like 45 minutes….holy ****, u ppl have some serious *ucking problems blaming a guy for taking a rest on a cable guy call! Geez, its not like a paramedic or fireman or police officer sleeping in an emergency…it’s a god damn *ucking internet line…wow…that’s a real emergency! lame o’s!

How ******* traumatic could it have been to see a guy sleeping on your couch. This guy acts as if he caught the technician killing his family.
The guy probably works two ******* jobs because neither of them pay a decent wage. The guy wasn’t stealing,he fell asleep and the customer admittedly yells at him to “get the hell out of his house”, gets the guy fired and wonders why his wires were cut. I think he’s luck his throat wasn’t cut.

You Need to Take a big ******* **** in your mouth and shut the **** up… Its not his fault i work for comcast and ive sat on hold for MANY HOURS AT A TIME. Its Not the end of the world

this video is offensive to me..and to those hard working tech out there…you guys have no idea how frustrated we are when we are put on hold..and to the guy who videotaped that poor TECH..i wish you are happy knowing you ruined someones life…he has a family to support. Customer think they always right but they have nothing to support that..When tech support tells you there aint nothing wrong on their end..it is true…it is you dumb *** who like to split off your cable for basic tv..or running to a router next to a file cabinet. or have 50 virus on your PC cuz u love to watch porn..and you complain y ur PC run so slow.. I have seen so many idiots who never try to figure out the problems…becuz they are lazy and retarded. And to the comment about SUB- CONTRACTOR…we do the garbage that IN-HOUSE TECH refuse to do…good luck when he reschedule your *** becuz u have no existing wire. And to the host of the show…sounds like a big idiot like the rest of you..

You wouldn’t want a guy sleeping in ur house that you dont know. Even if your the one that let him in. He isn’t supposed to be sleeping on the damn job. I would call comcast and the news also.

I have Comcast and have had my problems with them too. I understand that the guy may have been upset but really! Maybe the guy has Narcolepsy or some other kind of sleep disorder. It’s not the end of the world! Maybe he was sitting in the driveway for half an hour on hold with Comcast again, trying to fix the guys problem. I can’t believe this guy called the news!!

Im a cable tech myself…out in nyc.. let me you all…snobby *** ppl. we also get put on hold for long time..trying to service ur stupid asses and this is what we get….there are many times they work us 10 to 12 hours a day….so yeah we be tired…this dude was a moron..lik-a-dik

If it was a hot chick technician, then I’d let her sleep…with me.

And thats why you will never get laid.

Haha, look who’s talking!

“It was a nightmare”.
100,000 people lose their lives in a tsunami in India; thousands of children are crushed to death in an earthquake in China; MY GOD, THE COMCAST GUY FELL ASLEEP ON YOUR KID’S FUTON? Try living in Darfur for a few months, pal, and see if you can find some clean water, let alone cable service. Is this how insulated from reality we’ve become? “It was a nightmare”. Give me a break, precious…..

Ah shut the hell up, horrible way to bring up the serious issues you have mentioned.

What Do You Think?
