Comcast Connection Blues

Lyrics by Chris Pirillo | Music and Vocals by Derek K. Miller

I woke up this morning…
connection was down.
Nothin’ left to do
but to drive all over town.

Then I found me a hotspot,
and I got me online.
The waiter offered bread so fresh
to complement my whine.

I’ve got the blues.
The Comcast connection blues.
For every other customer
this downtime isn’t news.

I think it’s back up now…
you can tell by my grin.
Everything… oh, nevermind
I’ve gone offline again.

I’ve got the blues so bad.
The broadband-dropping blues.
I got a funny kind of feelin’ that
Comcast needs Viagra or somethin’
to help it stay up instead of hitting Snooze.

Know what I’m sayin’?

Too far from the office
for DSL.
Don’t bother me now
’cause I’m in hell.

There ain’t no email.
Can’t post to my blog.
Would someone grab the Drain-O
’cause I’ve got a massive clog.

This here’s my blues, baby -
The crappy Comcast blues.
The silver lining in all of this
is that I finally have the time to go upstairs
and start polishing my shoes.

The sooner I’m back on
the merrier.
We seem to be online ag…

Nice poem.

How poetic. Will you give me copyright rights so I can use it next time my Comcast link barfs, which seems to be multiple times a day….

Yeah I get dropped by Comcast a lot too.
Is DSL such as Quest usually better?
I'm moving soon so can choose…

Chris and I are working on a recorded musical version. Watch this space.

Okeydoke, here it is. Also available via Chris's server and the Podsafe Music Network, or via my iTunes podcast subscription.

That's Comcastic ;)

Oh i got some horror storys to tell u about comcast,
#1 comcast isnt the “Leader in highspeed internet they say they are, they started 5 years after cox communications started it. 7 years later they are saying they are going to be the leader in phone service to, thats 7 years after cox communication. I fully agree, Cable modems are WAY better than DSL, but comcast just plain sucks, I’d rather use a couple tin cans and a string. I had comcast in Merced, ca. Had it for like 6 months. For that whole six months not only did i have intermittant tv problems, i had total disconnections for hours, then when it was on id get lag in my games, so got the upgraded service (6MB) and it was worse, just going to pages even. had 16 diffrent comcasts techs/supers/mainenace, come out detect the problem but never correct it, they even gave me the first 3 months free! then at 6 months i called, said i had enough, they gave me a date they would be out to disconnect me, they didnt, drop internet, but not tv, then disconnected me a month later, and had the gaul to tell me to pay for their mistakes, sent me to collections, and … oh yeah, and…..want to charge me for a cable modem, (that i had 2 hand deliver back to them)the day i got it cus when i ordered the service, i told the rep only, 6 times, when it should have been 7, that i didnt need a cable modem, i already had 1. Then to top it all off, they want me to pay for the install, which i told them i didnt need and consisted of calling in my modems mac address, $100. If that wasnt great enough, they blame my highly tuned rocketship for a comp i got, “its ur computer Do yourself a favor, vote comcast out of your community!

It it is poorly similar on the blues

I live in Colorado Springs and was involuntarily switched to Comcast from Adelphis due to a buy out. I signed on (with Adelphia) for 2 internet connections in my home (with 2 cable modems) and recently changed to cable tv programming (Showtime and Starz has been crap here) and along with the change came a disabling of one of my modems (one was purchased one was rented from Adelphia – the one purchased was disabled-what a coincidence.) Now, I get nothing but the run-around from Comcast. One person tells me that residential is not allowed to have 2 internet connections and I have to have a commercial account (over 200.00 per month) in order to do so, another person tells me to hook up to a router (internet connection is downstairs – that’s going to be one heck of a long cord), and another person told me the problems would be resolved, but failed to ask for my modem information. I suspect they just lied to me to put me off and get the yelling woman off the phone. Apparently, I was still on Adelphia “coding” for billing and when I made the tv changes they rolled me over to Comcast “coding” which automatically disabled 1 modem. They neglected to tell me that would be the process. They neglected to tell me a lot of things.

What Do You Think?
