Even the Bible states (In the book of Revelation) that something big will deceive the world into following the 'Beast', and that it will appear to even deceive God's 'elect'. There seems to be a bigger spiritual awakening these days, and the world is ripe for the world to believe anybody that claims they can bring peace. You can't beleive everything that you hear, although many people do, which is why Microsoft is doing so well - but you have to be subtle, unlike poor old SCO.

I can see something like this being used to bring together many religions (although Christianity is not a religion). I just returned from a holiday to Europe and spent lots of time in ye old churches, the Vatican, etc. I happened to read a couple of books on Greek and Roman mythology while I was there and it's amazing how many parallels there are between myths dated 100 - 1000 years BC and the stories found in the Old and New Testaments. Almost every classical Greek and Roman mythological hero was born of the union of a human woman and a god, had supernatural powers, died a tragic death and then went to live with the gods. I also discovered that Michelangelo, when painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in 1508-12, was the first person in art history to paint God. His model? Zeus/Jupiter.

log in? whaaat? anyway, nice post Chris.
