Cheap Car Insurance
Is it best to look for a cheap auto insurance quote for your car online, or are there better methods?
Here is some good advice from my Linkedin contacts who have tried it.

This is the second time in the past week that someone has asked me (directly or indirectly) about mailing list software for email newsletters. I realize there are a wealth of email list services out there, but Steve Snes seems to be somewhat largely sold on PHPList:
I have an open mind – especially for new stuff. Here’s the latest pitch that hit my inbox:
PitchWire is an online community for influencers (journalists, bloggers and analysts) and publicists that promotes responsible pitching and transparency. The results are more successful “hits” and a better relationship between influencers and publicists.
From royalty to firefighter – this email came to me just a few hours ago:

Not sure why I’m suddenly starting to get junk email about metastatic colorectal cancer, but… is there an epidemic I don’t know about?
If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer (MCRC) you might want to take some time to learn as much as you can about this condition and how to stay actively involved through the course of treatment. Facing MCRC is a program that provides you with access to reliable information about colorectal cancer and its treatment options. Facing MCRC can also help you talk with your doctor and care team about your condition and ways to manage your treatment and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Okay, I have no idea why I keep getting spam about buying timepieces from Franck Muller. Apparently, these watches are worth tens of thousands of dollars so that YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW LONG IT TAKES TO BE DUPED INTO BUYING SOMETHING THAT WILL DISPLAY THE SAME TIME AS A FREAKIN’ TIMEX PICKED UP FROM ANY CONVENIENCE STORE.
Read more on Who the hell is Franck Muller and why the hell are his watches so damn expensive!?…
I think Jake’s talking about arranging an eBook sale at some point in the near future. Until then, this offer will have to tide you word lovers over:
I’ve been a follower of Lockergnome for several years now, going back to when it was the single newsletter. I’m amazed at how you guys can still crank out quality info every day. I love it! I work in IT at a relatively low-end job, but it puts clothes on the kids, food on the table, and a roof over our heads. Best of all, I work nights and get to spend the days with the kids (sleep is something thats missing though). Along with technology and the kids, my real passion is writing (and reading). I’ve written one novel and I’m working on a second. I went the self publishing route using LuLu.com. I’m really happy with them; the books look great. My only two wishes are for an editor and marketing guru. What i’d like to do, if you are so inclined, is to offer the first twenty Gnomies to email me (gnomie @ jasontjohnson.com) the PDF for free. If you want to check it out first, I have the JasonTJohnson.com!”>prologue and first few chapters online.
This has to be the best piece of junk email I’ve ever received:
“I am writing to you, as someone who cares about solving the problem of bullying, to ask you to consider putting a link in the resources or links page of your website to our website, Bullies2Buddies. I believe you will find our site is a unique source of help for victims of bullying. It teaches victims how to solve their problems without anyone’s help and without getting anyone in trouble. If I am a victim and I have to wait for the school to get rid of bullies for me, I may wait a very long time to stop being bullied. If you are my schoolmate and I tell the teacher or principal that you bullied me, is that going to make you like me and respect me? Of course not! It will make you hate me and want to get back at me. Thats why my method is to stop the victims from feeling like victims. If there were no victims in this world there would be no bullies. Bullies bully because they have fun watching others getting mas [sic] or feeling sad. If one is not affected by a bullies actions then its not fun for the bully, causing the bully to stop bullying the person. No victims no bullies.”
Jeremy Bencken, Co-Founder and CEO of ApartmentRatings.com, sent me an email this morning. He would make the 75th CEO to write me about his/her product this month alone. I had no idea I was so popular with Chief Executive Officers?! Jeremy was sure to include an official press release, but not before calling out a specific feature:
Finally, someone who pays attention to the stuff that I do around here. It’s a bit form-letterish, but the guy nailed the first two points on the head.
You’ve covered Shopzilla in the past and Frucall more recently, so I think/hope you may be interested in ShopWiki and its new Mobile Shopping Search, launched today. ShopWiki Mobile Search allows shoppers to compare prices and skim buying guides from the comfort of their mobile phones. You won’t find buying guides on other mobile services and no one covers as many products. This, by the way, is one in a series of features ShopWiki will be rolling out over the next few months. We’re already the complete Search engine for shopping and we have no intention of letting up.
Some people will do anything to get into Gnomedex – anything. At least he didn’t claim to be from the English department… ’cause that would’ve been a dead giveaway. This even tripped Ponzi’s red flag:
Lockergnomie Rob Vonderhaar agrees with me on SMS, although I think we’re fighting a losing battle with it. I must admit, I found it rather handy when Google Maps SMS’ed my phone with a business address (and its phone number) to which I needed to navigate.
Must be a full moon or something. Am I exhuding pheremones that attract CEOs? Here’s the latest:
I am writing to let you know about a beta mapping technology and new series of free downloadable digital destination guides launched recently. Schmap Guides are digital destination guides to cities, islands and regions throughout Europe and America. In common with their hardcopy counterparts (Lonely Planet, Frommer’s, Fodor’s etc.), they contain useful background reading, top picks and suggested tours, reviews, directory listings, photos and maps. Schmap Guides, however, are digital and downloaded for free to the user’s computer.
AJAX is fun, but… this Gnomie hits the nail on the head:
It’s interesting to me how we keep coming back to “old” technology and treat it as “new”. All web-based programming, be it an OS or application, is the same as Star LAN with each workstation being only alive when connected to the server and able to run programs only when connected. The choice for most has been peer-to-peer with each workstation being alive on its own and able to shared with another as desired.
