“Microsoft Corp. will have to supply the computer code for its Windows program to a group of states seeking stiffer antitrust sanctions against the software giant, a federal judge ruled on Friday.”
Quite honestly, making Windows “open source” is the best thing Microsoft could do. They'd still be able to develop a “distribution” and sell it; more importantly, these silly states wouldn't have much of a case. Imagine a Windows core optimized for speed, another optimized for gaming, and yet another optimized for defragging. Well, you get the idea. It's not out of the question – at least, for those of us who use the OS and appreciate what it offers. For what it's worth, I've heard of far more problems with OS X than I have with XP.
Use Optimize 3.0 to clear out your registry, and get rid of pesky errors that can threaten the stability of your machine. It's also easy to use to kill off unneeded processes that may be hogging up your memory - and will help speed up your boot times.
