I’ve tried a few devices that could take a signal from a video switcher and feed it into the Mac. None of them really would work with the software I use to integrate all the different components. I picked something up at the Apple store as a last resort, and what do you know? It worked! The ADVC110 A/d Converter is exactly what I needed.

If you need to convert Analog to Digital and mount that specific signal, the ADVC110 is going to work for you. You don’t even have to install anything – there’s no “installation CD” included. I’ve used a few different A-D convertors and the ADVC-110 is the best one. I’ve tried a few others such as the Formac models which are quite a bit cheaper, but they are also about 4 times the size! One neat thing about the ADVC-110 is it’s size, it can easily fit into a laptop bag. Well worth the extra bit of cash.

You can also loop the video feed through the unit out into a second computer, handy if you want to have a backup feed. I use this exact setup to stream video on the web and also take a full screen feed for dvd on a second Mac.
