AMP’D sucks. I am a parent of teen girls, we have had cell phones for many years, multi plans, family plans and each time I tried to get a plan to be suit our needs. Boy when I heard about Amp’d Hybrid, a dream come true, now I can handle the over the limit on min usage, no more unexpected charges etc. I ordered two phones and cancelled cingular wireless. What a mistake (I hope this changes) I got a phone that did not work I sent it back and for over two months I have not been issued a refund even though I have proof of delivery. The hybrid eats up your mins at about .45 cents a min and they can’t seem to fix the hybrid account. They are suppose to give you 100 dollor rebate (does not exsist) I am treated horribly by their customer service people, a supervisor never calls you back. To their credit “Siamiya” a billing person took care of me once and she was awesome but I have not been able to get her again and when I ask she is never avaialble. I even have proof. I know Amp’d will make their money but I hope Peter Adderton get’s a clue because people under him don’t have a clue. Thanks for listening….

I just read the comments left by Cindy and thought I might as well chime in. I agree with her. Ampd Mobile sucks big time. I too have been waiting for a refund for well over a month now for an order that I placed, was wrong, canceled still shipped to me and returned. I have spent more hours on the phone with them than I can remember, on hold for 3 1/2 hours once. I’ve been lied to by everyone I’ve talked to including someone claiming to be a supervisor. I told them the matter would be turned over to an attorney, which it was but even that hasn’t helped. The home office is supposed to be in Los Angeles but we can’t find any info on them there. Worst customer service I have ever seen and would recommend these guys to nobody!!!!!

I agree with all the comments left. Customer service sucks!!! You wait over an hour on the phone and and over 6 hours on the internet..I gave up before they could answer. I do not have my promised $100.00 rebate either. The phone works fine, if you go with the pay as you go plan.( but there is no way to find out how many minutes you use in a day. Even customer service says they don’t know …How do they charge???) The customer service people said they are having problems with the hybrid option it charges 45 cents a minute. I hope enough bad press will pressure them to change. Still waiting for my $100.00 ( that’s a big loss)

The truth may hurt but it’s the light! I am a business owner who has been trying to get my managers set up on Amp’d Mobile…..since DECEMBER!!!
EVERY single issue that has been stated here on this site has been my experience thus far with Amp’d Mobile and just think….we’re not even a customer yet. First of all, business accounts can only be done by sending an email that is NEVER returned. We’ve made countless calls to customer service but no one ever knows anything nor do they care. At one point, the 800 number listed on their site wasn’t in service. I just spoke to someone named Siamiya who would not allow me to speak to a manager or supervisor but gave me a fax number instead. I just sent a faxed memo requesting a rep to contact me but after reading all the comments here I’m going to take my business elsewhere. I believe we’ll be hearing about this company on the news very soon. They are probably another a small version of Enron….get the public’s money and run out. I don’t know but I surely get that feeling.

i have the same problem as everyone else with teh hybird plan and teh rebate.. i paid them 30 dollars a month and the additional 7 buks for free nights. and not only does it nor has it ever worked, they said we gave you enough money basically and told me make another 30 dollar payment only 2 weeks after my first payment… horrible cusomter service, everyday they are fixing the problem. i was trying to find out the address for the corporate office or who owns it. so i can send some letters. but really i think everyone should sent a complaint to teh better business bureau.. email me at bosslife@gmail.com/ with any otehr susgestions…

Ok, so I keep hearing people say that amp’d sucks but your reason is because of not getting a refund. Can anyone say anything about the service? Good reception? Dropped Calls? No service areas?

i agree with everything…hybrid still not working, no such thing as 100 mail in rebate, no such thing as unlimited text on hybrid, on hold for ever just to talk to someone that has no clue about what they are talking about and cannot help you in any way nad rever recieved refund from a double charge! there is no way to contact the rebate people and ampd has no idea about the rebate, they told me to email them and i never received a response in the 5 times i sent it to them! ampd is horrible adn im not really sure what to do right now…i can either give up and lose my 200 i paid for the phone and money worthlessly spent or i can switch services…not sure

I’ve been trying to get ahold of someone over the phone so I could talk about my payments to my phone. It would be my first payment and I owe $389 and I was wondering if I could send $200 today and $100 next week and the rest on the First of June. And What ever else I owe on my phone then.

I agree with eveyone comments here. Ampd SUCKS !!!!! I have filed several complaints with Better Business Bureau. I HOPE this company goes out of business REAL soon. They just steal your money , customer serivce SUCKS everyone that works there tell lies to you. I did gey a phone number off of the BBB website (310) 413-2956 this is the lady’s personal cell phone, I have called it and tried to help ( but told a lie too ! ) Do any one know who owns this company or the Corp office information ??

I talk to a Customer sevice rep and they told me that my Angel phone had a defect. So they sent me a upgrade (HollyWood) phone. That phone had issues as well. Ampd mobile then sent me another phone which took 3.5 months to recive to due to the phone (Hollywood) being on back order. I just know recived the phone and Today they told me that they sent me a referbushed phone that was used by another current existing customer. So i cant do an ESN swap. Now Im stuck with a phone that doesnt work. If anyone has the number to the Coperate office please send it too me. And, I will with no doubt take this up to customer care.

I got the amp’d 500 plan about a month ago, got the 50 text messages (extra 5$) and the free minutes after 7 (extra 8$).. Firstly I would like to say it is complete and utter bullshit that your free minutes dont count on the weekends untill after 7pm…ESPECIALLY since you have to fucking pay for it.

and so I bit the bullet on that because it is hella cheap and has pretty good signal overall. HOWEVER. Today I got my first phone bill of $538.98
because according to Betty (who I had to wait for over an hour to talk to) the “Features didnt go through” so I have to “Ballpark” how much I owe them for this month and they will sort the rest out and I will know for sure on my next months billing cycle. So I played along (considering I cant affor a 538 bill for anything, especially a damn phone.) So i ballparked around 100 dollars (including the activation fee) and I went to go pay online and my Debit card was denied even though I have more then enough money in my bank. so I called back, and AGIAN watied another hour or so, before i just said FUCK IT. I will deal with it tomorow.

I absolutely regret ever siging the damn 18 month contract with these morons.

Ok, as I see a lot of reasonable problems, I also see a few unintelligent ones as well.

Those who get defected phones shouldn’t blame ampd, they should blame either motorola or kyocera. As far as the crappy customer support in the return of the items/refunds/etc, that’s bad.

People who didn’t get the rebate probably didn’t fill out the form correctly or failed to include something that was needed. Or, maybe educate themselves that rebates can take EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME to process since it’s a loan given to the company. AMPD IS NEW, SO DON’T EXPECT YOUR REBATE SOON!

I have a Hollywood using the pay-as-you-go plan. I have not experienced the hybrid plan or ‘contract’ plans yet. But, when I do, I’ll make sure I am a little brighter than some of you.

I agree though. Customer service is an important element of a companies success. Too bad ampd is a new business, as many new businesses struggle to meet industries’/customer’s demand on such a service.

I plan to switch to a hybrid plan soon. So far I have had no problems WHATSOEVER with ampd. Maybe you people faild to read the ‘fine print’ or better defined as the terms and conditions?

AMPD mobile has been holding my phone number hostage. I’ve had it for years, moved over to ampd, ampded has crappy support (reps didn’t even know what call forwarding was). Trying to port over to Surewest. Ampd Mobile is ignoring all of surewests requests to port over. Now my customers are getting a disconnected message, between the time I spend waiting for customer service, filing complaints with BB, FCC, etc. I finally got a corp number where I can get real people (some are snobby though) 310-575-2500

I cannot believe the lack of customer support from Ampd! — After trying to order a phone for a couple days (the website kept having problems) — I finally got through to the “confirm order” screen , then an error page came up.. The problem is the money was taken out of my account and now I have no order/confirmation number to refer to… I can’t get through to the 800# and I can’t even FIND and email address for support! I tried to send to support@ampdmobile.com but it was rejected back to me. Well I guess we’ll have to wait and see and just hope the phone comes. The really do have the best rates for pay-as-you-go phones (10 cents/minute) , I just hope they deliver what they say they will. I would’ve gone with Net10, but their phone selection sucks.

Let me tell you for two weeks I have tried to get through online and on the phone to “top” up my pay as you go phone. Wait HOURS only to be told system down and No we do not know when it will be back up. 2 weeks now my son has gone without a phone because I cannot put credit on it. I understand they are a new company perhaps they should have worked out the kinks before offering their services. I did get my refund but it took nearly 4 months and many emails and YES I DID DO EVERYTHING RIGHT…dotted all the I’s and crossed all the T’s thank you very much if ANYONE knows how I can add credit to this phone please post something here so I can get some use out of this phone…which by the way has worked just fine from day one….

I’m sorry but regardless of weather or not this business is new, when people pay for service they should expect to recieve that service. ANY PROFESSIONAL will know that customer service is essential to success. you can pile excuses up higher than everest as to why things aren’t working as they should for what is obviously the majority of people out there, but the fact is that this is a BUSINESS and when you can’t adjust to handle the volume, have employess who attack your own customers by saying things like “you should all be ashamed of yourselves” or agree with someone who calls them IDIOTS than that is hardly the kind of professional or positive attitude that will win you new customers or create loyalty. When you see a string of posts that are almost entirely negative with the exception of employee posts or one random happy customer, its not that the customers are stupid but that there are serious problems with the company. you want suggestions? you have the customer complaints… those in themselves are suggestions to improve. we’re not going to come up with new cell phone designs or a new plan to help you employ better people. thats the company’s job if it wants to stay alive. Until things are fixed all the complaints and the honest warnings are well deserved. I personally agree with the the negative comments and until the company resolves these issues there is no good reason why any new customer should choose this company over other competitors out there who can provide them with adequate and honest straight forward service without all the garbage and the hassel. There are other people out there who work hard for their money and expect good service. you can hardly expect them to be patient or willing to pay for problems that out weigh the benefits.

WASHINGTON – The Federal Communications Commission is proposing a $100,000 fine against Amp’d Mobile Inc., the wireless phone company aimed at the youth market, for failing to protect consumers’ personal calling records from thieves.

The proposed fine is at least the fourth such action since January by the FCC against U.S. companies for failing to comply with rules requiring that consumer phone records be protected by internal safeguards. The FCC promised “aggressive, substantial steps” to crack down on phone companies that fail to protect such records.

Amp’d Mobile assured the FCC in a letter in February that its internal procedures did protect customer phone records but did not specify those procedures. The company did not return telephone messages and e-mails The Associated Press left Wednesday at its Los Angeles headquarters, its Washington lawyer’s office and its public relations firm.

I bought my jet at Bestbuy.com so i didn’t need to wait for a rebate or anything i got it for $107.38 or something like that but wow the service is ok for a while but then it goes out on me i’m still waiting for customer support to answer i been on the line for like 25 mins and still nothing this shit sucks my phone just won’t connect to the server so i can’t ppt or anything well i really just want to brake this phone and go back to cingular (hope it happens).

1. Apparently it got service in my home town when I asked the wonderful online livechat customer diservice… it doesnt.
2. I called and cancelled my phone. and… I got charges for the next three months.
3. You guys got rid of your live chat because everyone hates your bull company
4. I live in LA and I’m sure you don’t release your address because people would be storming in and complaining.
5. I’m currently on hold waiting for someone to get my call, it’s been an hour so far

Well I purchased 2 ampd mobile Hollywood pay as you go phones (one in Nov 06/ one in Dec 06) from Circuit City. I thought it was a good deal considering the rebate. I never received a rebate for either phone just a post card stating that my phone(s) was not “A QUALIFYING PRODUCT”. Bull SH*T, but as with all the other reviews the customer service is terrible and I do hope they fix the problems they are having with CS.

With that said my phone is awesome. As long as my phone doesn’t mechanically fail on me where i would have to call CS I would be okay. Great reception, clear calls(no dropped calls), ptt works great, pictures, mp3, and the entertainment kick ass. I love this phone but damn PLEASE FIX YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I got ampd for my daughter . First the angle phone quit working replacement was supposed to be sent waited over 3 weeks for new one.Second phone quit within 3 months was told I would have to return to Kyocera . Kyocera informed me it would take at least 4 weeks. Called ampd to cancle service was told no charges for early canclation but not to cancle until # was ported over which took 2 weeks. Called to cancle service was told 150.00 fee would be charged showed no record of discussing dropping charges. MAKE SURE YOU GET IT IN WRITTING BECAUSE THEY LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ALSO SPENT MANY HOURS ON HOLD.

I know it sucks to have to answer the customer service line of a company who is screwing with people’s money and I realize they are just trying to pay their bills as I am.

As such, small claims court has become my best friend. I document, document, document then HIT the real people responsible where it hurts.

So I sit on hold for about an hour and finnally get my phone active. They give me a new number and what do you know my phone works. Then after a month of not being able to access my Amp’d live i call and deal with the hold time to get that working. They tell me there was an error on my account and that i needed a new number so i do that after giving every one the new old one. Then i get set up on hybrid and still after being told it will be resolved soon and our technical crew are working on it I still have a incorrectly working phone. But now when i run out of minutes in the month because they are over charging me i am left with the choice to call for a credit. Now months later still a wrong working plan and crappy customer support. The only good things i can say is its on the verizon network so you get good coverage everywhere. If they could strighten out there problems they would be a nice company

Dylan, I doubt that anyone here is actually mad at the customer service reps, we all know that it is the company to blame and not the reps personally.

That having been said, AMD SUCKS!!!!!!!!! I have personally spent more time on hold with this company than all other companies COMBINED in my LIFETIME – and I am NOT exaggerating. I have been a customer for 1 year and have YET to receive a billing statement from them either through email or postal. Their response was “we’re sending it check your spam folder” – well DUH its not in my spam folder. Now, I’ve added $20 in my pay as you go account and did not use my phone for a month and now my account is at ZERO??? I’ll never know what excuse AMPD used to take the money since I can’t get through to customer service and they refuse to send me billing statements, and since it is impossible to see usage online.

For anyone thinking of Amp’d, DON’T. Virgin Mobile provides vastly superior service/phones/customer support for about the same price. Save yourself a mountain of headaches and avoid Amp’d like the plague.

This company is right for a class action lawsuit.

I had a little problem activating, but that was a minor inconvenience and it only took me a day to get my number up and running. Ever since I’ve had no problems with the service. I don’t get over charged or anything like that and I love Amp’d. It runs on the strongest network in my area, possibly the country. The only problems I had were activating my phone which ended up being my fault, and getting ahold of customer support. I hate customer support people. I don’t hate the people but I hate having to deal with them. I know that most want to help, they really do, but there isn’t much they can do so don’t give them s**t because it will get you nowhere. I waited forever to get a customer service person to, but I’ve always had to wait at least an hour to get a tech support person anywhere, even Dell where they have plenty of workers seeing as almost all their people are outsourced. As Dylan said, this is a brand new compnay, everything is not going to be perfect from the start.

DYLAN. You are full of shyt! I have been an amp’d dealer since July 2006. They have been playing the victim of our own succes BS card since I first started selling thier phones. Everyday I have customers who come in here and have rediculous bills. I try to call in to “dealer support” which is a complete joke just like customer service and no one ever has any answers. HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO HIRE SOME MORE CS REPS? Think about it!!!!!!!! There are millions of decent college kids who would love to be cs reps for amp’d. ITS SO OBvious that amp’d just doesnt give a f#ck! After 11 months of selling amp’d. I’m tired of it. The company just keeps saying what they are gonna do and never actually does anything. I am starting to think amp’d is a three guys in a basement smoking a bong and pulling lottery balls out of a maching when a credit check comes in.

I have experienced horrible service and have filed a report with http://www.rip-offreport.com, and suggest for more people to come forward with complaints because I knew I couldnt be the only one, but every time I have called they seem to make me think Im crazy for being concerned about a company that never activated my phone correctly, and to top it off my whole family signed up after me so we could all have better service, and we didnt recieve a bill for months and when we called they had no record of us. They finally after me calling three times sent the bill, but then to the wrong address. When I recieved it it was over 1200 dollars. Then one day-not a week, not three days, NO…one freackin day later my phone was shut off for not paying my bill!! This is some crap..I feel disgusted that they are still in business supplying more people with crappy service. Please do others a favor and file a report on rip-offreport.com if you were frauded by this company, it will help others, and possibly help you.

In the five days since i made my origional post my E816 Hollywood issues have gotten worse!The damn thing had problems from the beginning but it does not work at all now.PTT is gone,Web browser freezes and i cant make outgoing calls.The only thing i can do now is play some games on it.THIS SUCKS! I am going to ditch this crap phone for an Ampd Moto RAZR.I just hope the RAZR works better than the Hollywood does,if it doesn’t i know i wont get any help from ampd CS.The ONLY reason i am sticking with ampd is because they are the only prepaid broadband company out there right now.:(

Amp’d mobile sucks a fat one. I bought my phone at the end of april and when I went to print out my rebate the next day the rebate form was no longer online. After paying for 2 day delivery for my phone and not receiving it for 5 day’s I was a bit annoyed, add to the fact that it took 4 day’s to activate and now I customer service tells me too bad on the rebate, they can’t do anything for me. So now for the past 2 and a half weeks I have been trying to send back the phone. I have been lied to several times being told that they sent me a return box which I have never recieved. I even have messages left on my home phone from a CSR stating how he spent all morning processing my order…a big lie. So in order not to get charged extra money from amp’d I put a stop payment on them. I haven’t made it a whole month and they shut my phone off…i have a hybrid account. Oh I almost forgot, I was given another number to call to talk to someone who could help me but when I called to talk to this person I was hung up on…not once but several times. The final time the person thought that they had put me on hold but didn’t….I won’t go into the foul language this woman used to talk about me…which was a supervisor…but when she got back on the phone I told her I had heard everything she said…she said she didn’t care and hung up one me. So I really don’t care to hear Dylan say that they are understaffed and people are getting rude with them. Amp’d is taking in so much money from us they can afford to add some more staff.

Okay, I have to agree….Amp’d Mobile Customer Service bites the big one! I have spent lots of time on hold. I have the Hollywood edition and first my charger stopped working. Amp’d wanted to send me a new phone. I said no, I just need a charger. They could not just send me a charger. (my phone was only a couple of months old). I ended up contacting Motorola and after a few attempts, received a new charger. Now, my phone won’t charge at all and it won’t tell me when the battery is ready to die. I have to physically take the battery out and charge it in one of my kids phones (real pain in the butt). I have contacted Motorola and they suggested I go through Amp’d which I am trying to do but am loosing patience rapidly. It has been 22 days and I am still waiting. Funny how Customer Service doesn’t have a phone number or address for their Headquarters. I do appreciate the signal that I receive however am not satisfied with the service at all. I am willing to give them until the end of my contract and then we’ll see. I do have to say, Has anyone tried to cancel your internet service with Microsoft or Earthlink? Worse!!! Good luck to us all and remember the manufacturer of the phone should be able to offer assistance.

WHEN I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ASKED ABOUT A NUMBER TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE, THE SUPERVISOR SAID HE DID NOT HAVE A NUMBER AND GAVE ME AN EMAIL. I EMAILED THE “CORPORATE OFFICE” AND OF COURSE…… THOSE SPINELESS RIPPOFFS DID NOT RESPOND. THE CALIFORNIA ATTORNEY GENERAL WILL BE HEARING FROM ME AND I HOPE THAT EVERYONE WHO READS THIS WILL ALSO CONTACT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL ALONG WITH CLASS ACTION LAWYER SO WE CAN STOP THESE THIEVES. Amp’d mobile is the worst company I have ever dealt with period. I don’t give a damn about them being a new company. Before you release any product or service it needs to be tested. CS needs to be settled immediately not a few years down the line. I got billed for a number that was not even mine to begin with. Charged for 14 minutes air-time for a phone that never got activated. If Amp’d doesn’t get their sh*t together and they start billing people and when people do not pay for a service they are not receiving, and it finally goes to their credit. I am almost positive that people are going to by-pass the BS legal system and filing a complaint with the BBB and they’re are going to be acts of violence. CS at amped mobile are to nonchalant with customers money and time. People don’t have all ****ing day to wait on the phone for Tech support just to get CS and get thrown back into the queue to wait even longer for Tech support. This company is weak. I will never do business with this company and neither will my company.

Hey Renee,im sorry to tell you that the problems with your Hollywood will most likely get MUCH worse.I had that phone for a few months and it died on me.It started with a few problems and quickly went down hill from there.I just got the ampd RAZR and this thing works much better than the Hollywood.Also as far as contacting the maker of the phone if you have problems,i tried to get some help from motorola when my e816 had its problems and they told me that Ampd were the only people that could help me at the time!When i told the moto rep that ampd CS does not pick up the phone or even reply to email they told me they would transfer me directly to an ampd tech support person but they could not get a hold of ANY ampd TS or CS rep at all! The Motorola people were very nice and they tried over and over again to get a hold of just one Ampd mobile rep but they had no luck…just like the rest of us.

Ampd mobile lost my phone number when I transfer over to their company. . I have two phone with unlimited calling. They have not given me my $200.00 rebate, they have charged me double money on my accounts and also charged me 400.00 for a purchase I did not make. I have been waiting 2 months to hear from the billing department . Every month I have problems with the bills and making payment over the phone. CS IS REALLY REALLY BAD. And when you mail in the payment it takes 3 weeks to hit your account. Be very careful of this company. I hate them queenloveborn@aol.com

to every one that wanted revenge on ampd and prove our point that they are f in liars they have just filed bankrupcy i know this i ve been fighting with them invested alot of money in opening a dealership and they were not paying commisions or taking care of my customers i recently filed a lawsuit to break the contract now they are not paying any of there dealers who put up all there money and stayed on the phone for hours trying to take care of there customers there ceo should be investigated he resigned on friday taking a lump sum of money and walking out

We got a contract with amp’d in april. our phones are now disconected
for a 800.00 bill. We were on plan we never asked for. We also bought 5 prepaid amp’d for our kids. 3 angels and 2 jet. We never got the rebates. If these ppl are bankrupt can we get all of our money back. They say we never paid for the activation fee. My husband pay the day he got the phones on contract. We thought we had free mobile to mobile.
We didnt. My husband is a soldier in the Army. I am about to let the military know about them. So no other military members will use amp’d.
I went thru 3 phones. The first phone was set up to another account.
the second broken. Is there a way we can take the phones to another company? even if its prepaid. its better than amp’d robbing us.
I rather pay 25 cents a min prepaid. We barely used our phones.
just to call each other. and they charged us big time.

Does anybody here know how to get access to “The Vault”/adult content on the ampd mobile web browser?I just noticed today that my new ampd razr doesn’t have access to adult web pages.I tried to get to the Playboy.com site and i got a message that read “Access to the vault isn’t allowed on this account,go to the my account part on the ampd.com website to change your personal settings”.I went to the ampd.com site and THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THESE SETTINGS!I emailed ampd customer care and they told me the same damn thing the message did on my phone.I emailed them again and went into great detail about how there is NO WAY to change the adult content settings from the ampd site but they did not understand a thing i was talking about and it seems these ampd CS people dont even have access to the internet from the ampd offices!!!The thing that makes me angry about this is that ampd can block out any web sites that they see as profane.If anybody knows how to access “The vault” i would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me how you did it.As always ampd is no help at all.

I have filed a complaint against them with the BBB, DCA and the PUC. All three are looking into this companies dealings. Be advised that this company has filed for bankruptcy on June 1, 2007. If you read “Grandmaster” dated June 1, it will explain how I got my money back from these rip-offs. Good luck and do not let these thieves get away with your money, I got mine back! If you used a credit card for these services, your credit card dispute and fraud department is supposed to help you. We have been utilizing ampd for well over a year for our personal and business us (sales reps). We have only ever had one issue, and it was not the service but the phone. Which I might add, a new phone was promptly sent out. We don’t get dropped calls, there is no roaming, our sales reps are all over the country and do NOT miss any business.

Getting straight up pissed with AMP’D.

I signed up back in October for the End the Boredom ($50/mo) which entails 1000 “anytime” minutes, unlimited texts, and 2 months Overdose subscription). I got all this set up through Best Buy, which may have been my first mistake. Anyhoo, my first bill was for over $450. I wasn’t too happy about that. My bill eventually got to be around $975 even when I wasn’t using it on a regular basis and was making payments. I called (yet again), and after holding for well over an hour, the rep asked why I hadn’t signed up for Unlimited Nights for only $7 a month, which would’ve made my plan $57, not $450. There was nothing on the website offering this option, nor did Best Buy tell me about it. I couldn’t even add my usage anywhere near what they had calculated in the previous statements. I filed a complaint with AMP’D’s billing department and never heard back from them. This was back in January. I went ahead and changed to the Nights option and canceled the Overdose (which kept adding $20 my bill even though I wasn’t using it. I was told that it would automatically cancel after the first 2 months and I’d have to resubscribe if I wanted to continue it) and got the bill paid off. I’ve been making my regularly monthly payments, and I signed into my account a couple days ago and they’re saying that I owe over $250! What the hell? I’ve tried contacting them multiple times over the 611 and 866-811-0091 throughout the past few days and all I get is an automated message saying “We are closed at this time” and stating that their regular business hours are 7 days a week, closing at 6pm PST. I’m not a rocket scientist, but upon doing some calculations, 6pm PST translates to 8pm CST, and I’m calling well before that hour. Also, please correct me if I’m wrong, the Customer Service area on the website is down.

As far as the actual phone goes, I have the Hollywood. I’ve been pretty lucky with this particular one considering the first one the guy pulled out of the box at Best Buy wouldn’t even turn on. I love the features, so props to Motorola, really. Haven’t been having any troubles until recently. Sometimes it doesn’t like to charge, which can be a pain. Another strange thing that I noticed is that if it’s in my pocket for a bit, it gets super hot and it zaps the battery power almost clean. It’ll be fully charged in the morning, and by 10pm it’s beeping in the red, and I don’t even use it that much.

When it seems that everything is settled, more stupid shit pops up with something else. Is there someone in an office shaking a Magic 8 ball somewhere?

I have tried to speak with numerous supervisors, one of which basically was a few words from saying screw me. I have spoken with a supervisor named PJ who stated that he would see the refund through and needless to say that has still not happened. I am definately looking for ways to get a complaint through. Some lawyer should take this case on and look into all of these complaints because this is ridiculous.

Hey does anyone know if you can use a 2gb micro sd with the jet? Or the hero?

I think ampd mobile since they do aim their bussiness at teenagers is just trying to make cool phones and ok service cause how good of service does a 15 yr. old need to talk to his/her friends. Now when it comes to an adult you usually need it for work and more important communication and more reliable service so I suggest Verizon for the adults asthey are reliable their phones can be cool but not as much as like the jet or so but they are reliable. Thats my opinion atleast im going to buy a jet hopefully soon I don’t need super reliable service just something to keep in touch with people. BTW does anyone know if the jet or hero can take 2gb micro sd cards or what is their limits.

Amp’d suck! I got the phone last year. I switched from HELIO which was awesome phone company but a little pricey. Anyhow, i send in a 50 rebate on Sept. and it is June and my rebate is still freaking processing. I wait on the phone for hours, then get a a 2 minute conversation with a A-hole who does not even answer my question. WHen I cancelled my service they said my last bill will be a total of 350…then i get a nother bill next month saying i owe 750. I was charged for the minutes i used before that without including my plan. I HAVE NOT PAID IT AND WILL NOT PAY IT UNTIL THOSE ******* FIX THAT BS.

Well first i guess i got what i deserved for taking the cheap route….I bought a plan from Ampd mobile through letstalk.com, for $37.95 the plan was an additional 50 bucks and s/h was free..but i shouldve known something was up when i went back to purchase another for a friend and letstalk.com, took ampd phones/services/plans off their site..Ha ha on me, well now ive had my phone for a month and a few days. Recently i have been experiencing depleting minutes, rude customer service, and vendors in the mall that dont know anything about why my plan is “”acting like a prepaid account” , instead of a “Hybrid account” (what a joke) now towards the end of this my phone has been turned off, when i tried to contact customer service via website, of course its saying, “unable to connect to server”, and I just read over the internet after i google it; that ampd mobile is going thru litigations/ bankruptcy etc…Im not sadden i just guess that Im one of the lucky ones that didnt get taken for a whole lot of money …..p.s. this matter really sucks , and its awful that a small company that had great reception failed at how they kept there books …

Ampd is absolutely disgusting! I’ve had them since Sept 2006. Nothing but probelms from the start. So I gave them some chances right from the start. My Angel phone was broken, they sent me another one. The next one was also broken, and so on and so on. I’m now on my 8th or 9th phone (I’ve lost count), and it’s broken. Ear piece speaker doesn’t work. The phone doesn’t charge all the way, never has. It turns on and off periodically, and various other problems. I bitched and complained until I got a “manager” who sent me a Hollywood instead. Got the Hollywood in less than 2 days (And I’m thinking YAY! I’M SO HAPPY!!!) BUT IT DOESN’T HAVE A BATTERY. So I call. They apologize credit my account and say it’s on it’s way in 7-10 business days. I wait and wait and wait. 2 weeks NOTHING. So I call again. again money to the account, NOW it’s on it’s way. NOTHING. that started back in mid April. Now I filed a complaint with the BBB. It’s June for fucks sake. 2 1/2 MONTHS to send a battery memory card and charger??? THAT’S AMPD FOR YA!

Get this. I’d had Amp’d for a few months, and had been through two Hollywood E816’s…was on my third. One day, I stop receiving phone calls. Later on that day, all the people that were trying to call me were getting some one else! Some other dude started getting all of my phone calls, voice mails, text messages, etc. The kid was legit, gave me his name and all of his info…it just turned out that Amp’d gave him my ESN (wtf?). Now today I can’t make calls, can only receive them (and can’t receive texts). I’ve spent hours upon hours on the phone with their customer service dept., and I don’t have time for this any more. I’m calling a lawyer.

Get this. I’d had Amp’d for a few months, and had been through two Hollywood E816’s…was on my third. One day, I stop receiving phone calls. Later on that day, all the people that were trying to call me were getting some one else! Some other dude started getting all of my phone calls, voice mails, text messages, etc. The kid was legit, gave me his name and all of his info…it just turned out that Amp’d gave him my ESN (wtf?). I wished that I would have read these post before signing up for the Pay As You Go with Ampd. I have never seen a Back*** Business like this… They are a BUNCH OF LIARS, CROOKS & THIEVES!!! I read all of the threads about how damn great Ampd Mobile was… (WTF) I used the phone for 4 days… Sure coverage was great! BUT>>> On the fifth day, a message from Verizon Wireless stating “You have reached Verizon Wireless… Your call will now be transferred to an external operator where your call “should” be connected using a credit card, calling card or collect.” (WTF) I had a $60.00 credit and last time I checked had $58.00 left! Called “Customer Service” on the same day… (That was a joke) “Customer Service Rep said they couldn’t find me by using my phone number and that he needed my social security number… My “full” social security number. (WTF) I replied “You don’t have my full social security number on pay as you go. He tried to give me this Bull**** story that he had over 3000 names with my same last name to look through and that they weren’t in alphabetical order… BLAH BLAH BLAH! He finally found my account less my social… Because I wouldn’t give it to him… Said my number had been changed (and I didn’t change it.) with a balance of $0 ( and I didn’t use it.)… Unfortunately, I can’t credit your account (so he said). He said that I would have to contact Tech Support dialing the same number that I just did when I called him… He said press options 2 and then 4… I asked “Can’t you transfer me?… No unfortunately I can’t do that he said.” (WTF) So I did call the same number 1-866-811-0091. BTW I have it memorized! I was told the same thing ” Unfortunately, I can’t credit your account for the unused minutes that is a technical problem… and you will need to contact Tech Support.” (WTF) I asked “I thought I had Tech Support!” No, I’m just Customer Care you will need to contact Tech Support. (WTF) Can you transfer me? Yes she says, then I was on hold for 1 1/2 hours the first time. I finally hung up because I was getting tired of waiting. I repeated this process until finally I get a message saying that it was after normal business hours. Now on Day Two, I try again on my quest for the non-existent Tech Support! Asked to speak to a supervisor… “Unfortunately, I can’t transfer you until “I GET YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER”… (WTF) I got so pissed that I was in a rage… I went off! Eventually, I just hung up. I repeat the process over and over and over… ETC> Then I acquired a new number from a “Customer Care Rep.” for Tech Support. Same SH*T differant number. Only differance, I finally got to speak to an “Excellerated BLAH BLAH BlAH” (Supposed to be a Supervisor) With the same answer… Unfortunately, this is a Technical Support issue and you will have to speak to Tech Support… This has went on for over a week now. Customer Support lines have been down for a few days. And the CS link on the Ampd website doesn’t work either. I was still unable to use my phone or add any airtime because the system didn’t reconize my number. I have come to the conclusion that I have been ripped off! So, anyway I did file a complaint with LABBB and FCC… Not that it will do any good… Cause it’s been 4 days and they haven’t responded to that either! Why should they, Ampd Mobile is on it’s way out! They are protected under chapter 11 bankruptcy. So we can all forget about the rebates (DON’T EXPECT THEM IN THE MAIL!) We are all SCREWED!!!

I think that you have a lot of nerve to bad talk the company that is your meal ticket. You have the resources in your office to take care of any problems before they become complaints. Dealer support is located in your building and they are quite knowledgeable on how to handle billing problems. Do you still work for the company? I personaly think that they have a great product. Maybe you shouldn’t work for Amp’d anymore I am sure that they don’t want disloyal people like you in their company.

The sad thing is, corporate and investor greed combined with consumer ignorance and adiction to useless technology will continue to keep bad service the norm in wireless. Marketing should never come before Customer Service but it does. So much is spent reeling the consumer in that they forget about what keeps business going; good sensible, well informed customer service. The real issue is not the bad service, but us entitled Americans who think that we still run the economy of this country. None of us are important to any of those carriers. Has the service really improved with any of them? Is it honestly better at one over the other? Most everyone you meet will tell you they hate their cell phone company. I have come to believe that the companies count on our addiction to wireless to keep going to the bank. Otherwise, why the hell would we wait on the line for an hour only to be hung up on (Sprint has done this to me SEVERAL times in the ten years I’ve been with them).

My advise to all of you, stop whining about your cell phone service. You are not important to ANY corporation. You never will be. Good customer/consumer care would have to come from a socially responsible, what I’d consider smart executives. Those, as far as I can tell do not exist. I guess there is the posibility that if enough of us say F-U they might consider listening. But only if we stopped using the products would it make any impact. Could you live without answering that on the toilet cell phone call? You know who you are. LOL. My guess is probably not.

We still don’t know the effects of cell phone use on our little brains. We could all be in kemo in twenty years, rotting our brains out. Think they’ll pay for the bill? Keep whining if you must but remember it’s you who wants the option of being reached anywhere at any time. Even the public restroom.

Sure, they took my payment, but the moron on the phone said it didn’t ‘clear–error occured–’ So stupid me gives her another account #…she processes it for 1 dollar!! 2x’s! I call the baknks…both payments cleared. The full amount from one bank, 1 dollar 2s’s from the other bank…my phone still does not work–calls in not calls out! BS..they said…’we don’t know what happened, make a 3-way call with your bank and we can try to straighten it out. I call my bank again, they say it has cleared, no holds…nothing. Ampd guy says (3rd call) we don’t know what happened and need to credit it back will take 3-5 days!! I said it took 30 seconds to come out…you got it turn it on! I think I am going to go to Verizon to suggest they pull their name off of all messages from Ampd…I am so ticked off! Wasted a day–wasted money…what good does reception do when you can’t call out??? Dumb a&&es don’t know what the hell they are doing! The first girl who made the mulitple transactions had the gull to say’ maybe you don’t have the money in the account’..and then change her wordign to ‘there is a fraud alert on your account’ Which is complete BS…it cleared!! Like many of you too, they owe me a refund of 142 dollars for a charge they made that was NOT on my account…but from somewhere else!!!!!!!

It was supposed to be that he would pay his half, and I would pay mine, but, I ended up being charged an outlandish amount of money per bill, and to add insult to injury, the s.o.b. wouldn’t pay his portion. I spent countless hours waiting to speak with customer service in order to get his line canceled, billing questions, (believe me, I had TONS.) and other problems I incurred. I finally got so disgusted with them I could no longer stand it. (I had canceled the other phone line, but they hadn’t deactivated the phone completely.) When I finally got this sorted out they told me I would not have to pay for his phone use. Come next bill, they still charged me for his phone usage despite the fact it was their fault. After angrily waiting three hours of the customer service line, and arguing about the bill, they only took off fifty dollars, I had had enough. I quickly took a plan with another company and terminated my subscription to their company. I’d rather pay the $150 termination fee than even spend another second with that company. Believe me, from what I’ve heard about some of the other carriers, Amp’d Mobile is one of the worst. They just plain suck!

Ok Matt, so because I refused to let this fraudulent company rip me off and get away with it, that makes ME a “loser” ?! It seems strange to me that out of all the people that have been ripped off by these thieves, you pick the one letter that triumphed. Scroll up or down Matt and read how all the people got stiffed just like I did but you pick my letter?! Are you kidding me!! Read the other letters Matt, what do you have to say about these people, are you happy they got stiffed? Two things are clear to me Matt, you not only lack common sense but apparently you have none at all! Second, from the tone of your letter, you must work for Ampd (or used to). What were you Matt, a sales rep. You certainly sound like one of those customer reps I tried to get to honor our aggreement. You sound like this listless kid in customer service that told me that nevermind that I had to sit on hold for the better part of an hour, that I should be content since they were willing to reactivate my phone that kept dying. Nevermind that I had to call these people OVER 25 TIMES!! Nevermind that the phone would be dead again most likely the same day and that I would have to wait on hold again, I should be content. Matt, I am not going to lower myself and wallow in the mire that you are in by saying some of the things you said but I will say this, it is apparent you need a checkup from the neckup and if you have already had one you should be taking meds to control your mental disorder. If indeed you do have meds, don’t skip a dose! If indeed you have been taking your meds, they are not working, talk to your shrink and see if maybe you can double up. No doubt, the class action lawsuit that is most assuretly coming at them, we’ll be sure to name the kid specifically. This is how foolish you are Matt, the numbers I listed are NOT personal numbers but BUSINESS numbers. I got a person about 75 minutes in and told her they either need to credit me back what all they took out, or I considered what they did breaching my contract-they had my money–I had no phone! The girl was very angry–yelled for me to hold on–and hung up on me! I called back, waited for another 55 minutes, was disconnected, then called back waited another 55 minutes at least, got a person named Ban-ext 1735 (yes Ban-not Ben). He immediately told me to hang on—I said NO! don’t you dare put me on hold again—he said he wasn’t putting me on full hold–came back 3 minutes later and told me they would reactivate my account and apologized–said when the money is refunded to my account that I had to call back with a payment again—In about 15 minutes my phone was finally able to dial out! If I am not m,istaken, he said something along the lines of getting the other credit too, but he may have been double talking about the original amounts they took…208.99 from 1 acct, and 2- $1 transactions from another.
I already filed complaints with the BBB…I will do like you suggested as well! I feel like I need to RUN away from this company! What happens if they do go belly up, and Verizon is able to shut down the towers?? It will be much as the same as this situation–right? Thanks again!

You are quite welcome. I am so glad that my postings has helped some people. It would have been quite easy to have been content that I got my monies and went on about my business but I felt compelled to share with and help others who had been ripped off by this incompetent company like I was. As I mentioned in an earlier letter, these thieves have apparently filed for bankruptcy. I believe this is an attempt to avoid having to face the consequences of their actions, mainly taking folks monies and not providing the service. The thing that angers me to no end is that even after these thieves knew they had a defective product, they continued to sell it to the public which is not only outrageous but in my mind, criminal. I hope that everyone who is not being serviced by these thieves cut them off immediately by not giving them another cent and by contacting their credit card company to go after them for the dollars they already stole. Go get your money back.

I am so glad I have found this website because I thought I was the only one with these problems.Everything that I have read about the customer service, incorrect Biliing and defective phones I have experienced also . I think that someone should research if something can be done about this legally. This should be a crime because it’s fraud.

Ok whoever this employee(s) is that is defending AMP’D, chew on this: I work for a cable company and I know exactly what you are saying about people cussing and being unreasonable…afterall, you can’t please everyone. It IS however a whole nother ball of wax when ALL of your employees have the IQ of a gym sock. AND THEY’RE RUDE!! If they can’t handle a 70% growth then they need to either call in serious back-up or shut it down all together. How the heck do you expect me to pay my bill if I can’t get through to Customer Service after calling 40+ times this week?!!? I can’t log on to my account via the web, and have recieved 2 paper bills in the 6 months of being a customer. Get a grip! Instead of ridiculing us for being honest and voicing our concerns, why don’t you print all of these out and give them to somone useful…if someone like that even works for your company.
I can tell you that despite all of the cussing and arguments that I get from customers, I take pride in knowing that I have vast product knowledge and can 97% of the time aleviate the concerns of the customer. You say you have been working with that company for 10 years?!? It shows…trust me.

I bought 2 amp mobile phones for my kids in Dec 2006 sent off rebates form that month and found different numbers for the rebates and every time was told in the next 4 weeks it would be sent this has happened 3 different times still havent received them already July 2007 but i will say we have the prepaid cards to refill phones and we had trouble with the 20 dollars cards about a month ago called customer services waited for 1hour 45 minutes but finally talked to someone and they did add 50 dollars toeach phone for free and also the 20 for the cards.

I have been having the same problem with getting a rebate, bought a Jet phone in December 06, sent the paperwork in immediately and still have not received the rebate. The rebate site has shown “Processing” for many months and I am tired of trying to talk to anyone associated with the company because there has not been a single person that was able to give me decent information.

I have read so many blogs about ampd mobile and the remarks i hear about the agents answereing the phones. Did you ever think that maybe they are doing what they are told to do, i am sure these agents what to do what ever they can to help the customer when they call in, and cant cause of what the corporate or whom ever is over them wont let them,

**cont SO PLEASE LAY OFF THE AGENTS.I know they try their best and cant do much , customer care is there only to go over your bill and take payments,m thats thier job and all they were hired for. Anything else they can do anything with you about, thought they try to help but get shot down or cussed at for something they cant do cause they arent hired to do that, but try to help anyway. If you want to gripe about this service, contact the corporate or something.

im so sick and tired of ampd, i wish i never bought my phone from them. still havent received my rebate, the end the boredom plan keeps acting like a prepaid,everytime i call of course they say contact tech support whom ive been calling for at least a month ten times a day, ive NEVER gotten through. im wondering if anyone is trying 2 get together 2 file some type of lawsuite against them. anyone have any advice on getting the rebate or a way 2 reach tech support? thank you

Ampd mobile is a rip off. My fiance’ and I got two lines with them back in October. We got the first bill in December and it was like $380. O.K. Then we got another bill in January, it was $580. Then February.. $1000. All this time we’re calling disputing these bills and the’re telling us that the manager will call us within 2 weeks. NEVER RECEIVED A CALL! Finally in March (after requesting that they turn the phones off since February) when the bill is now $4000 so they claim, they finally turn them off. They wont send me a bill showing how and why this phone bill is so high. THEY ARE CROOKS.

Okay let me lay it down for you all….I have ampd mobile too…I called in because my phone wasnt activated. And I have been trying to get in touch with Tech support for 4 days now. When I called in I got a lady that had been nicer to me than anyone I had talked to within these 4 days. She and I were on the phone for about an hour and 30 mins…granted that she wasnt in Tech support but she tried everything she could. She was nice and she never once told me that nothing could be done…however i still plan on cancelling my service anyways but she told me that the only reason that we (the customers) have to wait so long is because people who dont pay their bills. She also told me that if people dont pay the bills then Ampd cant pay their bills either. Which is understandable to some extent. I then asked her to transfer to Tech support, but she told me that she couldnt do it because they didnt have a number to transfer to…which I found a little odd. So I asked the lady whats going on and why it takes so long to speak with someone..She had also told me that there are less than 200 people taking phone calls for this 275,000 company,So I am thinkin..hire new people…and she tells me that they are, but its going to be a slow process because of the bankruptcy. I was only 30 days behind and I paid my bill in full and still no service. I paid my bill..I paid was was owed. I mean there are nice people there…Its just that I want my service. I dont mind waiting…I have a house phone and this isnt my only means of survival but I think that its getting pretty rediculous…I took my last sick day to wait for tech. But I see where they are comming from. I dont know, I know people are angry and upset but do we all need to sit here are literally take it out on those who DO try to help us? Why dont we look at it in the people that have to tell us something that we dont want to hear. so I side with Angela who posted on July 11th…come on dude seriously cant you all see that they are trying?

Just got a text nessage from AMP’D: ” Your service will be shut off on 7/24 @ 12.01 am”
I still have $18.00 in my pay-as-u-go account so i guess this is where rip you off before they f*ck us again.

I got the same message and I have a contract with them I have had no problems up until now and now this ampd should just pay verizon and let us continue our service. I have never been late and have always had my payments there in full and on time. WTF

AMP’d Going Out of Business –

The last I got this screwed by a phone company in California (back in 1999) with the same HIDEOUS service a co-worker told me to tell them I would file a complaint with the CPUC if they didn’t fix the billing and after 4 months of an average of 3 days a month (8-5 talking to 10 different departments – was repeatedly hung up on on their error of mistakenly billing my for a T1 line – $1200 a month of which I did not have, the web services, long distance and other errors all in different departments and be disconnected again 28 days later and then process started all over again. In addition I faxed the 30 pages of errors to every department every month) on the phone with them I finally did. My co-worker explained that when you file a legitimate complaint with CPUC they can be fined $10,000.00 When I threatened them with the complaint I was immediately given the top supervisor (I was told initally I had to deal with each department separately which made it BEYOND manageable) and was given free services for the next 6 months, a formal apology and couldn’t beleive the impact it made. So they carry alot of clout.

On the upside everyone who made they mistake of signing up for a contract plan it looks like we’re off the hook! (personally I never signed any contract – which initially caused problems because I had ordered two phones one with 1000 and the other with 500 mins after not receiving my first bill I called and found out they screwed up the order (*of which I had two witnesses that heard the orders)) setting it up for a shared 500 min plan. I estimated around $49.99 + $7.00 = $57.00
$30.00 +$7.00 = $37.00 I got a bill for $434.00)

Details are up here now on the Amp’d website and the customers are being told about it later today, through text messages. The service will go off on Tuesday at midnight, July 24. The early termination fee does not apply to all the cutomers who will have to decide which operator to move to. The company is not porting them over to Verizon, on whose network Amp’d ran on. As for what will happen in the auction, expect multiple parties bidding. I would expect the MVNO base to be sold separately from the media/content assets/IP.

Updated: Got the disconnection notice text: AMPD MSG: Your svc may be disconnected on 7.24 @ 12:01am. Go to http://www.ampd.com or contact the location where you activated your service for further info.

After seeing these posts it will be all too easy… This company is ripping people off! Just look at the posts. For future reference typing an email in all caps is all wrong.

i have bought a total of five phones from amp’d they all were for the pay as you go plan i recently switched my service to the so called HYBRID PLAN for 49.99 a month which was last month and they still had me under the pay as you go when i called to see what was wrong they said everythins fine you are set bullshit! they were still charging me then on top of that my rebate is still processing since november 22 of 2006 i am so upset with them right now! i didn’t receive the text until friday the 20th but did’nt find out until i went to circuitcity to buy ear plugs that they were going bankrupt and now i have to buy a new phone because none of the phone companies are excepting there phones they want you to buy new ones i don’t have 200 dollars to pay for a new phone that i have not had for a year! I am so pissed. WTF???

I’ve only had service with Amp’d Mobile since May and have been through hell and back. Now I find out that they are broke and have filed Chapter 11. Sadly, I did not find this out until Tuesday when I called about a discrepancy on my bill. The representative simply stated, “your phone will disconnected on July 31st because they [Amp'd Mobile] are going out of business.”

I was so upset and asked her how was I to know this? She responded by saying that “a text message was sent to all subscribers.” My response was evidently not because I didn’t receive it. I believe that we should have been notified in writing (letter form) and not via a text message.

Like most people on http://chris.pirillo.com, I have nothing but bad things to say about Amp’d. I was always on hold for at least an hour and it took several days to get my phone activated. I signed an eighteen-month contract with them and now they are going out of business??

This is a huge inconvenience because I have to search for a new carrier, attempt to have them port my current mobile number, buy a new phone, possibly put down a deposit, etc. This is obviously going to cost people a lot of money, which I don’t have. As a full-time college student I live on a budget. I am in on the class action suit. Please keep me posted and let me know what else I can do to help. Thanks!

I GOT THE SERVICE FOR MY 15 YR OLD SON. MYCONTRACT WAS FOR THE500AIRTIME MINUTES $30 A MONTH AND $10 UNLIMITED TEXTING CHARGES. I SIGNED UP IN APRIL AND EVERY BILL WRONG. I SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS ON THE PHONE TRYING TO REACH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ONLY GOT THRU 2-3TIMES IN ALL THOSE MONTHS. THE PROBLEM IS I WAS ALSO BEING CHARGED THE 0.10 FOR EVERY SENT/RECEIVED TEXT MESSAGE. I WAS TOLD TO PAY THE BILL AND WOULDBE CREDITED THE NEXT MONTH. 2 MO LATER STILL NO CRDTSAND NOW I HAVE OVER A $440 BILL THIS MONTH WHICH MOST OF IT IS THE TEXT CHRGES. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO?? FOUND THIS WEBSITE BY PURE LUCK AND I AM SO GLAD I AM NOT ALONE. THISWAS THE WOST BUSINESS DECISION I EVER MADE AND WISH I WOULD OF KNOWN OF AMPS MOBILE’S PROBLEMS EARLIER.

I just got a text message from ampd telling me that they will no longer exsist as of 8/01/07. They told me i could keep my phone and number by simply going over to some other company they recomended,hmm, yeah,im gonna take the advice of the people that just went belly up and switch to some company i never heard of,good idea.Even though i am very angry that ampd took my money and ran,i am also relieved that the nightmare known as Ampd will no longer be around to con people out of hard earned cash (and yes i was one of the people that paid thier bill on time every single month but got deeper in the red).I Hope all the criminals that made ampd are put in jail.

I need some advice. I owe Amp’d a bill but, I am unable to log into their site. The bill is due in less than one week. I have also heard that since they went bankrupt, I don’t have to pay. Nevertheless, I don’t want my credit damaged because of an outstanding debt. Can anyone help me?

Hello folks, I recently purchased a Amp’d mobile pay-as-you-go phone through Circuit city on

5/26/07, here in massachusetts. On 7/21/07, i rec’d one of those non-discripitive svc shutdown

msgs. Being a new prepayee, i added a 20.00 charge-up to my account, thinking that was the
reason for the msg. my updated balance was 44.00. on sun. 7/22/07,I noticed that the phone

was still beeping with the msg. . Concerned, I went to the ampd mobile website and didn’t see

any info on the msg.,until i came accross the little FAQ section stating a us shutdown

on7/24/07. I was upset, so i tried calling ampd mobile customer svss, and rec’d no answer.
so, i called the Circuit City in Millbury,MA ., where i purchased the ampd e816 hollywood

edition phone,-as advertised-with a 100.00 circuit city/ampd mobile rebate-, on a 2nd receipt. I

spoke with a sales rep. for that dept., and informed her that ampd mobile had quietly filed

chapter11, short-noticing customers within 3 days of shutdown, and ampd mobile not coming

through with the circuit city/ampd mobile 100.00 rebate.the rep. transfered me to a C.C. store

mgr. named coleen. I infomed the store mgr. of my situation, and i asked to return the said

phone for in store credit since the phone would be rendered useless, and the circuit city rebate

wasn’t honored.. The store mgr. coleen said,” well sir i’m sorry but your purchase is over 30

days per store policy, so we can’t take back the phone. You’ll have to keep calling ampd

mobile, and deal with them. Besides sir, we haven’t had any of their products in our store for

sometime now…i’m sure they’ll be a lot of upset customers, so keep calling the ampd mobile

co. ..” I told the C.C. mgr. that i ‘ve seen the phones advertised and in the store within the past

3-4 weeks….I said i’m a customer and i want satisfaction. so,I asked for the Circuit city corp. /

cust svss. number. after talking with the store mgr., i drove up to the millbury circuit city. In the

prepaid phone section, i observed 2 ampd mobile phones, the jet version- in store c.c.

advertised -at 179.99, and the e816 hollywood for 129.99, with a tagged sale date good to

3/06/08. I used my ampd mobile phone, and took pictures of the display. On mon, 7/23/07, I

called Circuit City customer svc, and spoke to a female rep.,with an indian-accent. I explained

my issue to her. She said,” Sir, we are so sorry, but you phone is over 30 days..I will give you a

reference number #. , and I will transfer you to the Ampd mobile customer svc…” I was placed

on hold… about 16mins. later, The rep. returned , and said, ” I’m sorry sir, but ampd cust. svss.

is closed at the moment. you’ll have to try call them back later on to today…If you have any

questions, call us back with your reference number…we so sorry , thank you sir…”later that

moring I called amp mobile again. Finally,I spoke with an ampd mobile customer svc rep.

named jessy. She said that she was “unable to discuss the issue futher,and was not allowed to

escalate any calls…” ampd moblie svc rep. jessy refered me to a website dealing with chapter

11 issues.. I told them they might have even a bigger problems because Circuit City was still

selling their phones like nothing was going on… the ampd rep. said,” good grief, i need to

speak with my supervisor…”10 mins later, the ampd mobile rep. returned. She said,” thank you

sir, my supervisor will get the word out about phone sales…sir, we understand your

problem…our customer svc dept. wasn’t even notified, until today, by memo regarding the

chapter 11 shutdown. were not suppose to speak about to anyone. I recommend you contact

circuit city cust. svc and explain the situation to them..Since you’ve had the phone and service

for only 2months, I can’t see why they won’t allow you to return the phone for store credit. Have

their cust.svss staff contact our dept. to validate your claim..” So,I called CircuitCity

cust.svss.again. I spoke with a male C.C rep. . I gave him my refer. no.#, reitrated my issue…I

was on the phone with this rep. for 44 mins., on/off hold with lots of”, i’m sorry…were sorry,

sir..etc…” Finally, The C.C rep. returned, and said, “sir, after checking on everything.. I’m going

to call the store where you purchased the unit and, have them give you a refund, or a store

credit…l’Il contact them to make the arrangements…” another 17 mins. on hold, The rep. returns.

He said,” I’m really, sorry sir, but, I spoke with the store mgr.,. The store mgr. said they will not

allow the return, and that you are over the 30 days return policy….I’m so, very, sorry sir..”I

exclaimed, “there’s something funny going on here…I’ve been on the phone for hours, placed on

hold for long periods of time, listened to company finger-pointing, given the run around and

stonewalled…I was hoping that at least circuit city would do the right thing and give me

resolution…I’m customer and i want satisfaction..I want to speak with someone else in the chain

of command…” The c.c. rep. said, ” I’ll give you a c.c. incident reporting no.#, and i’ll transfer you

to a cust. svss. supervisor…” The rep. transfered me to a C.C. Super. named Darchell…As

soon as i gave her the incident no#. , she acted in a beligerent, and surly manner…She said,”

Sir, you were already told that you are over your 30 days…you will not be able to return the

phone and no store credit of any kind will be issued…”I said,” so , let me get this straight…your

telling me that i’m going to be soon stuck with a useless mobile phone, a dead service, and no

hung-up… It’s 8/1/07, I still have limited phone service, and my acct. stands at 37.50 …I’m in the process of filling out various complaint forms

Umm,hey Robert,Ampd mobile shut down a while back.Ampd is not around anymore.This is the last time i will say this.AMPD MOBILE NO LONGER EXISTS! Okay, first off I’m going to admit that it took me a while to pay my bill. The reason is same as everyone else’s which was being overcharged. I also agree that they have horrible customer service and I probably have bad credit now because I would usually get my bill in the mail 3-4 days before it’s due. I still have the bill and I’m not sure if I should pay since they no longer exist. The other thing is that some other company called ‘Pinnacle Financial Group’ charged me in behalf of Ampd. I paid half and they said they would call back by Sept 1 for the other half but I haven’t received a call ever since. What worries me the most is that in the bill I got from Ampd (Bill date 08/06/07, Due date 09/06/07, which I got yesterday btw) states that if I fail to pay, i t will result in legal action taken against me. Pinnacle call us everyday. I told them Amp’d is bankrupt, And that they over charged us anyway. Every month We have been getting Bills. We havent had service since may. But we get bills with minutes used.

Amp’d is lying to everybody. Most of the ppl that had their service, The so called young ppl who didnt pay, had pre-paid!

They are charging us for minutes we are not even using. I would have paid the bill. But I will not pay for something I did not use.

My kids had pre-paid all 5 of my kids, They bought their own minutes.
Amp’d robbed them of their minutes.
You cannot go into contract with a minor.

Pennacle and Amp mobile can go you know where.
By the way are the phones from amp’d usable?
I got 7 amp’d phones laying around.
I just wanna know if we can get service somewhere else with them.

I never really understood how Amp’d Mobile worked.. I always kind of thought it was a payg thing…
