I know what you are saying. I love my DVR that our cable company has put out. The wife wasn't too interested at first, but now that I can record her whole Monday lineup on two different channels she loves it.

True about having to have a PVR, but that's the beauty and appeal of it. Even non-Geeks can love their PRVs. I do love my TiVo. It rocks. It's my favorite machine, next to my Mac and PC computers. Yet, there are stubborn people who haven't seen the light. I'm trying to convince a friend of mine, a non-tech personality type, to buy a TiVo. I've tried my best, but he just doesn't get it. You'd think it would be a no-brainer since you can watch TV on your time, and all the other neat things possible with hard drive based video. I was an early adopter of the PVR/DVR, having mine since late 2000. In fact, earlier this week, I replaced one of my TiVos dual hard drives that was going bad (freezes, stuttering & reboots). As long as the PVR electronics are hooked to a UPS for protection, and you're able to replace a worn out hard drive now and then (not that difficult), these things can last years and years. I'll never go back to watching television without one.
