The wife wasn't too interested at first, but now that I can record her whole Monday lineup on two different channels she loves it.

I know what you are saying. Even non-Geeks can love their PRVs. I do love my TiVo. It rocks. It's my favorite machine, next to my Mac and PC computers. Yet, there are stubborn people who haven't seen the light. I'm trying to convince a friend of mine, a non-tech personality type, to buy a TiVo. I've tried my best, but he just doesn't get it. You'd think it would be a no-brainer since you can watch TV on your time, and all the other neat things possible with hard drive based video. I was an early adopter of the PVR/DVR, having mine since late 2000. In fact, earlier this week, I replaced one of my TiVos dual hard drives that was going bad (freezes, stuttering & reboots). As long as the PVR electronics are hooked to a UPS for protection, and you're able to replace a worn out hard drive now and then (not that difficult), these things can last years and years. I'll never go back to watching television without one.

True about having to have a PVR, but that's the beauty and appeal of it.
