Best Video Editing Software: Vegas, Director, VideoStudio, and Easy Media Creator

The best video editing software hands down is Avid Xpress Pro. The only possible drawback maybe a moderate learning curve, but the effort is worth it. You can get a taste of the Avid line of editing software by downloading their Avid FreeDV. It is fully functional video editing freeware. The other thing I like is that Avid products seem to have low overhead as far as CPU and memory demands as compared to, say, Adobe Premiere. I was able to edit standard definition on a 1.8Ghz Turion laptop without any problem which would have choked on Premiere.

Chris, on your vid, you say that you may be able to get coupons on some of the video editing software.
Yes, I have had 2 versions of ULEAD – 9 and 10. Can get it going – but, it’s always hard work.
I would like to try the Roxio and maybe the Vegas.
If you have any coupons for either of those, please hook me up!
Thanks! Brie in DC

I usually edit in Final Cut, recently I putchased v=Vegas 7 abd HDV DVD BUILDER. I cannot get to first base with this program, everything you try to open wants yu to buy something else–I have to be doing something wrong as I do not think that Sony would release a program as impossible as this is to work on –

I would appreciate if you would email me a coupon for Roxio Media Creator9 I already have Roxio Media Creator7 have been working with the inter phases but they are kind of slow in terms of the story book editing.
Unless you have a better alternative?
Do you have any other suggestions for software that maybe flows a little bit faster and better, easier to edit while setting up the story-boars?
I am mixing several medias in one video production such as the follows example: Audio – Video and still digital pictures images with words superimposed on the pictures then making it into a slide show, and then coveting it into a video output file on the net.
I am also having another issue uploading my 56mgb videos with the file extension mpg to my YourTube account, what do you suggest I do?
I hope this gives you some insight into my dilemma in terms of production time and efficiency and upload issues.
Thanks for your support I would greatly appreciate it your response regarding this issue.

Greetings,
I have 20+ Super 8’s to move to DVD. I have tried out Vegas and like it. But am open to best price and product. Time to buy so…
Any input on PowerDirector 6 v/s Vegas 8+?
Something better?
Coupons?
Finally, I am reading that some sw is resolution limiting? Vegas is now doing that? This is why I would want to move away. Would not want to be limited to quality. That is why I am open to suggestions and read one review that rated Director very highly.
Thanks. Peace and Blessings

Chris,
I have the Sony DCR-SR100 digital camcorder and want to buy compatible editing software for video and audio. I am a novice at this. Would Vegas 8 work and is it good for beginners? Any other suggestions?

Great review.
For me, one of my main interests is 3d dvd menus and animated intros (similar to idvd). What dvd editor (or video editor) would you recommend with these capabilities. Thanks!

I am looking for a video editing software that I can create sport DVDs. One of the sports I tape is hockey in which I edit down games to goals, saves and good hits right from my Sony handycam. Then I download them to my PC and want a software that can import them and add to DVD several very short clips (files). I also want to be able to mute the original audio and add music. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Forget Roxio and go straight to (AVID’s) Pinnacle Studio. Rendering time difference is huge. Unless you are into fancy video editing and detail this program is the best I’ve found so far for simple video creation. I have Roxio EMC 9, Magix 11, and have tried a lot of other stuff. So far I’m most impressed with MS Movie Maker 2 (free download) and Pinnacle Studio for simplicity. Pinnacle has many upgrade options if you want to get fancy later. For straight video transfer to HDD, Pinnacle Video Transfer is a simple straight-forward device. Those are the opinions I have formed in my search over the last two years. If you have big bucks, sure, get a dedicated super PC and go AVID or Adobe.
