Did you fix this yet? We had a similar sounding problem on a 2000 dns server just today. It somehow added some weird addresses as dns and deleted some that we needed. Only reason we found was because we tried pinging the name as opposed to the address and it came back with a reply from a different server, otherwise we would have thought it was the 'puter.

I was having a very similiar problem a few days ago with AOL. I have broadband (yes, yes, and still have AOL. It's easier to pay $15 a month than teach my mom how to use a completely new internet service, and I despise the way AIM handles IMs anyhow). Annywho, AOL wouldn't work. AIM wouldn't work. I couldn't even get to AOL.com. However, nobody else was having these problems. I could still connect to AOL through dial-up too (tried it). I worked on it for an hour and a half teusday night and another two hours or so wednesday when I got home from school before I got pissed and left it alone (it still wasn't working). I came back an hour or so later, checked it on a whim, and for some unknown reason, it worked. I didn't have problems with it last night, and it's running fine right now. So maybe all you have to do is wait.

I have a similar problem. I think it's firewall related.
My Linux boxes are now upset with my Windows 2K box — but only on my Lan (inside the Router). Everything on the Wan is fine.

Don't you just hate it when your computer doesn't respond when you want it to. Something that you've done a million times and now it decides it won't do that action anymore. I've lost many hair folicals this way. Hope you got the problem fixed Chris.

I had two similar problems one or two years ago. I found out it came about after a network sharing connection with a WinME laptop – somehow it screwed everything local – but I could still access everything outside my network. The second time it was a problem with my firewall – somehow it decided that my own computer (on local connections) was seen as an inside hacker. hehe. computers, what can you do!?
