Incremental backups should somehow be done by software in my opinion, like Time Machine. If you did it manually you would have to re-backup EVERYTHING every time which depending on how much data you have to backup, could take hours. Something that indexes your files (like time machine) for Windows is what we need.

Hey Chris, why not just use memeo autobackup, you set it once and plug in your external drive, then when you save a file it automaticly saves it onto your external drive aswell, and if you dont have your backup drive on all the time, it tracks and when it is plugged in it will just copy it straight away

What I do to back up and mirror the important stuff is this.

The hardware: Two cheap and identical 500 GB external USB hard drives from TrekStor. € 99,- / USD 135,- each.

The software: MirrorFolder for Windows XP from TechSoft. € 28,5 / USD 39,- per computer license. (If anyone knows of a better software solution for mirroring and for other platforms, please share!)

Important files and folders on my workstation and laptop are set to be automatically mirrored on both of the external disks. Music, settings, etc are all mirrored on both of the disks for redundancy.

Further more, I can take one of the disks with me on the move without worrying about data loss.

Works for me ™ ! :)
