Babe In The Woods

I was searching for Intel Northwood benchmarks this afternoon and hit the big [H] first. Imagine my surprise when I discovered Kyle and his gang drooling over the Lockergnome girls. Gretchen is coming with me this Thursday evening to speak to the PC Users' Group of the Redwoods - in Santa Rosa, California. Remind me to have her bring along a couple of those photos. I have a strange feeling we'll be the youngest people there. And since it's an hour and a half north of here, I'll be darned if I'm taking the trip alone. I plan on talking about my favorite tips and tweaks. In fact, I may even blog something while I'm on stage. I'm crazy that way.

While we're on the subject of a three hour tour. A three hour tour. Seems that most of this weekend's server madness is subsiding. I'm still uneasy about the situation, but at least I haven't had to open an ssh session to restart any Web service lately. Mirroring images on another server definitely helped somewhat. With continued smooth sailing, our Webcams will have returned by Wednesday. That, and the Bits & Bytes will have returned from a two-week hiatus.

Weird. As I was blogsurfing this weekend, I noticed a lot of references to a “Friday Five.” I couldn't figure out what it was or where to find the original list. It appears to have originated from Smattering.org. I'll have to keep my eye on the blog so that I might take part in this (apparently) weekly event. Some people's blogrolls are uberlong. That's my new prefix for everything. It's uberfantastic. Since I'm allergic to umlauts, I can't use them in my blog. It's an Iowa thing.
