Yep, this is a LEGO Star Destroyer space craft I just finished building. Isn’t it just gorgeous? Datalore gave me this kit as a gift when he visited the US recently for the Gnomedex conference. I was super excited, because I would likely never have bought it for myself. I’ve never even truly had a LEGO kit before. I had some LEGO blocks, sure. But I was such a deprived child. I had a Star Destroyer, but it wasn’t something I built myself.

Build the most awesome ship in the Star Wars universe! The Imperial Star Destroyer is the massively huge, incredibly powerful heart of the Emperor’s fleet. Manned by the top crew in the Imperial Navy, the Star Destroyer was heavily armored and bristling with turbolasers and tractor beam projectors. One Star Destroyer alone was enough to strike fear into an entire star system!

Now you can add the Imperial Navy’s best-known and most powerful ship to your LEGO Star Wars collection! Measuring an impressive 37” by 23”, this model dwarfs any LEGO Star Wars ship ever produced. This beautifully designed and one-of-a-kind collector’s item comes with a special display stand and collectors card. Also includes an exclusive Rebel Blockade Runner Mini-Model, so you can recreate the opening scenes of Star Wars IV: A New Hope!

So I’ve had the kit for about two weeks now, and it was just sitting in my office. I’ve been busy, you know! I was feeling stressed out last night, so I grabbed the box and started building. I worked for hours, until I couldn’t see straight anymore. I slept for awhile… then I was up and at it again. Building this was addictive to me, and almost an obsession to finish it.

I’m very happy with what I created. It’s insanely cool. I didn’t have LEGO Star Wars growing up, because they didn’t even have them. You’re never too old for LEGO bricks, nor too old for Star Wars. Not only did I have fun doing this, it was also a great stress reliever. I think I’ll end up putting it up on top of my hutch, with the back facing out. I mean, really. Isn’t that just a gorgeous rear end on this ship?!

The other reason I bring this up, is that building LEGO kits can honestly be a bonding experience. It’s something good for a parent to do with a child, or even a grandparent with a grandchild. The sense of accomplishment I have right now is just huge. That is something you can share with a child, once you’ve had a great time building it. Spending the time working on a craft project like this can also pave the way to opening conversations you might not otherwise have had.

Why grow up? You’re never too old to indulge your inner child and play.

Hi Chris! What a coincidence! Like you I never really got into Lego because it’s so fr**king expensive… Finally, after eyeing this set for weeks, I took the plunge and bought myself a set last weekend and spent hours putting it together. I had so much fun, I had to buy more sets… I ended up with the Ferrari formula 1 pit stop, 4 Speed Racer cars (based on the movie) and a Batmobile! It cost me a small fortune but it was WORTH IT!

Yes. yes, yes, yes yes, yes.

YES!!! LEGO is the single greatest thing ever.

Yeah, LEGO are really fun, no matter how you play it, i never gets boring, because you can always make new things with it.

Yes Legos are the best stress toy especially for a geek.

That is so awesome. You and I have the same exact Lego Star Wars ship. l I give you mad Kudos though because you put it together MUCH faster then I. You’re the best!

I am not addicted to legos… i hate them, there small they hurt when you step on them and clean up is impossible, and then when they stick togeather… ugh don’t get me started .

mate, you should get the “Millenium Falcon”. it is even cooler than the death star. hard to believe but true !

sadly I can’t afford it :(

downloaded the instructions though, then felt even more depressed :(

Oh, I used to make things like that when I was a kid!!

Oh, yeah, Legos rock so much. Especially when you make movies with them!

This video really related to my childhood days where legos is what was all i did. My brothers got me into the lego craze becuase my brothers always like to build things out of different things. That’s when they discovered lego’s and then it was something that they loved for as long as they lived. My favorite line of lego products was the “Technic” Lego series becuase all the legos with this series were completely different which added a whole new term to legos. i almost built a star destroyer like you chris.

Anyways i played with legos for 8 years and i found to be the best and funnest times in my life when i was a kid. So thanks Chris for adding this vid about lego lovers and builders. let me ask you this Chris Pirillo, what was your favorite lego series that came out with legos.

0o

How can anybody not become INSTANTLY obsessed with legos? The bricks are fun but the BEST are Star Wars, with the podracers and such, best part….BREAKING THEM!! Just toss em on the floor and build them up from memory, I swear Legos are so tough they may be the last thing here when somebody spills coffee on the “button” maybe we should build shelters out of them 0o

-.- stewped wordpress….

Anyway, I dig the Star Wars legos most, I got the Podracers for my birthday, say, 10 years ago.

Hm…how many other movies are immortalized in lego blocks….?

Hehe.

It’s really easy to get addicted. When I was younger me and my brother had 6 boxes full of it. We used to make cars, buildings etc. Kept us amused for hours. And yes it can be expensive but if you was like me it’s well worth it. Helps build on our creativity.

Speaking of liking legos, try googling “Norman Mailer + Legos”. The man was a major fan for many years.
