I am on the cusp of buying an 8.9" to 10" screen tablet for use as an ebook reader/annotator, research device and general portable computer. I can understand why Apple may have held back to this point due to battery life being such a challenge for such a device, but with tablets from Fujitsu and laptops from Sony now getting close to 10hrs battey life in less than 1.3kg packages, it's time for a slate-style, touch screen enabled tablet. Or else, it's another good reason to install osx86 on some of the offerings from other companies... I know I'm not the only one thinking this way...

MacWorld was disappointing for not having a tablet. The first thing I thought was: Where is the tablet? The macBook Air is cool looking but I currently have many macbooks that exceed it in speed and flexibility. If what Man is saying is true then that is cool. I've been waiting for years and unfortunately I'm being forced to by a vista based tablet due to the immediate need for one in our office.

Apple just introduced the macbook Air, slim with optional flash-memory hd. They all have an MacBook Touch and says it will have a 9 by 10 inch touch screen. Along with a real keyboard that comes out of the actual MacBook Touch.

I met a lady on an airplane, who has friends that work for . Before, we had to fly back and forth from projects to get reviews from our engineers, after the tablet & being able to tether to cell phone internet connections, we can get answers in minutes instead of days. A huge benefit.Students should take a look at 'onenote' on current tablets. I used it in school and it's amazing - being able to hand write notes, record the lectures and have the lecture audio automatically match the position/time when I wrote my notes is absolutely invaluable.
I know all the mac fans are excited about the possibility of a macbook tablet, but really, it's long over due. Apple has a lot of catching up to do - even Dell is about a multi-touch tablet.

This ‘paradigm shift’ happened nearly five years ago at my office: <a
