My Mac did this earlier in the week.

I switched the port my keyboard was plugged into while on the white screen and it booted up just fine.

I hope your problem is just as easy to fix.

Thanks Yabanize I tried your method from the 2nd post and boot into safe mode and restart and now its working nicely thanks alot

You’ve done alot of “good” for both the PC and Mac crowd, Chris, and I’m sorry to see so many adolescent jerks turning an issue that could occur in ANY platform (e.g., Mac, Windows, Linux, etc.) into yet another pointless PC-v.-Mac debate.

What does it sound like booting up? I can usually tell what’s wrong by listening to it.

windows, linux, and even OS X boot errors can most of the time, be corrected using Spin Rite. I know it is a paid for program, but it’s saved my bacon, and MANY others. I don’t fully understand all that it does, but it WORKS!

Check it out! You’ll have to temp. add your OS X drive into a windows machine to use the program, but then it’s back into your apple, and BACK TO BOOTING NORMAL!

But by now, you already know that.

it means there is a missing boot file/s check the hard drive is in working order or even plugged in if not reinstall OSx
