Angry White Boy
Am I the only one who hasn't heard any of these songs: LAST RESORT (Papa Roach), CHOP SUEY! (System Of A Down), GET FREE (The Vines), HATE TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO (The Hives), FELL IN LOVE WITH A GIRL (The White Stripes), LAST NITE (The Strokes), DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS (Disturbed), RENEGADES OF FUNK (Rage Against The Machine), OUTSIDE (Staind), MY WAY (Limp Bizkit), BAWITDABA (Kid Rock), YOUTH OF THE NATION (P.O.D.), or THE REAL SLIM SHADY (Eminem)? Looks like my music collection is quite incomplete. Repeat after me…

I won't debate these songs on their merits (I think some are good and some are not), but to have not heard of ANY them is pretty sad. I feel for you. :)

Chris, Dude, Man. Are you like hiding under a rock or something? You never heard of the real slim shady or bawitdaba? Will someone donate his/her old ipod to Chris and about $15 dollars for downloading the music list at the itunes music store? ;)

Oh man…Pathetic…How about some Metallica? Most of their albums are before the 90's. Get into some REAL rock. IMHO, your listening to the wrong stuff…But, hey, everybody has an opinion. I live out in the coutry and there aren't any “city bands” that play my kind of music. Every song you named took talent to perform except the last one. Whats up with the 70's rock comeback with the “The” bands? The Beatles are gone. Give up. Let's help Chris get back into mainstream music.

Seriously?
Renegades of Funk kept me sane when I had the worst work environment ever… The Hives and the Strokes kept me sane when I found a better one…
Next you're going to say you haven't heard of Bad Religion (it's OK, they did release material well before '89)

Papa Roach, Disturbed, Staind, and P.O.D. are bad. The Vines, and Limp Bizkit have a few decent songs but are over-rated. The others are good. You should also check out Queens of the Stone Age's Songs for the Deaf as that is a great album with some good satire of the barren contemporary radio landscape to boot.

you're not the only one. I too havent heard of even ONE of those songs! I've heard of a few of the bands tho, however only a few. Then again, I am a tiedye wearing, incense burning, patchouli oil sniffing, Woodstock DVD watching, Janis Joplin grooving HIPPY! ;) With a time machine poised to go back to 67' and go to Montery Pop Festival! ;D Wanna go with? Leave all this tech stuff behind! Freak out all the long haired hippy freaks with your tech knowledge of what the future will bring. :)

Hey, out of those you mentioned, I've only heard LAST RESORT (Papa Roach) – Which sucks – and THE REAL SLIM SHADY (Eminem) – which is kinda catchy, but I don't think much of Eminem (or any other hand-wavers). And I'm sick and tired of this Nu Soul crap too. Where has the good music gone? Everybody is just pumping out the same old tune, just with a different mix. Most rap 'songs' share more than 75% of the same words and phrases as each other.
Give me 70's rock any day (I'm under 30 years old by the way, so I'm no “old guy”).

What a great way to drive more ppl to his site then to list a slew of bands as one of the stories. Chris, your content alone should have be enough to get readers — you don't have to resort to this.

I wish Chris on this one. I more or less gave up on radio several years ago. Call it a Clear Channel backlash. When my MP3 player went on the fritz during a cross-country drive my wife and I had the pleasure of listing to the same 6 songs over and over and over again.

Two answers for your woes. Pop radio and p2p file sharing, including binary newsgroups. Otherwise, it's tough to keep up to date. You should check out more System of a Down. They are a good rock band with a distinctive sound. If you haven't heard them ordering coffee, you are lost. You have to know RATM, they had an ending song in the original The Matrix. Loud rock clears the mind.

Am I the only one that noticed that Richard Cheese (http://www.richardcheese.com) has covered almost all these artists and most of the songs on his two Vegas lounge-style covers albums, “Lounge Against The Machine” and “Tuxicity”? To the rockularly challenged, these versions might serve as a good introduction to the bands involved.

Seems most of these bands have made it this far, with the exception to SoaD. Btw those guys rocked at their last show, I would know, I was there -.-.
Anywho… All the songs are fabulous, same as all the bands. No one in here liked them all, only a few or none at all…
We all just need to get together and take out Hinder xD
