This is a great idea and find for you to inculde on the site. Great Idea and thanks for your hard work in doing that.

Good idea. I even like how you included your amazon referral code, as you deserve a bit of cash for this.

Wow what a really cool idea Chris.

*twitch*

Sweet … love it.
Any ideas on how you maintained and generated the .opml file?

Nice! Suggestion: change the code for the music feeds to pull the artist/band name in addition to the album title.

Okay. I'm a Linux user (Red Hat 7.3). I want to try out this RSS stuff, but only because Chris thinks it's a good idea. I'll start by trying out the Readers Chris recommends. FeedReader: “Feedreader is a freeware Windows application…” (no thanks, I'm on Linux), RadioUserland: “Radio UserLand costs only $39.95″ (yeah right, it's not even Linux either), NetNewsWire: “Requires Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) or greater… Special sale: 25% off!” (sounds like trouble), NewsGator “…is a “news aggregator” that runs in Microsoft Outlook.” (not free either – double yawn). Now, I do have Kticker and Knode on my system, but neither are compatable with the RSS Chris has written. *sigh* Time to do a search… So I better start searching myself…AmphetaDesk: http://www.disobey.com/amphetadesk/ Compiles but has problems running. Hotsheet: http://www.johnmunsch.com/projects/HotSheet/ Wants Java, but I tought I had it already? Doesn't work. PeerKat http://www.oreillynet.com/~rael/lang/python/peerkat/ …Seems to be a host not a reader, and does not open ports successfully. Clever cactus – http://www.clevercactus.com/html/download.html …Finally, an RSS reader that actually works! My conclusion after finally seeing this RSS stuff: Why don't you just use a PHP or even JavaScript to churn out these pages? After all my trouble I still fail to see why RSS is so “revolutionary”.

Oh, boy! 160 ways to get Chris Amazon referrals. Are you people really *that* excited about this? Especially you, Lancer – *This* is the shining moment that makes you want to get into consuming RSS feeds? All the news, tech info, humor, and whatever else that's been out there hasn't been enough? But 160 ways to help spend money do? Gimme a break…

Rory: I think Chris/Lockergnome has the right to put in their referral codes, and hell, I know I would if I could pull something like this off. They're providing server space and bandwidth for all of this, and since it just got mentioned in a few newsletters I read, including ResearchBuzz, I have a feeling more folks are going to be hitting them.

very cool idea. Drew Robbins and I have been playing around with the same concept. I have some example code on my blog to do the same thing using .NET and XSLT to transform the amazon ws. Check it out and tell me what you think. I will be presenting this topic in st. louis and kansas city so I wouldn't mind having your feedback :).

Jake – He has the right to do it, yes, but that you're all so excited about it is ridiculous. As my friend Dominic put it, “Oh – It's like getting 160 free banner ads.” No thanks.

sounds like you want a mac, man…

Nice!

Chris, is this part of the URL correct: lockergnomedigitref=nosim/lockergnomedigit/
? or should there be a / before the ref=nosim?

Chris, awesome service!
I have one little gripe, though: I've been subscribing to the feeds for two days now. And most of the products have appeared as “New” a few times so far. Because the URL changed; and probably also when the average rating changes. Perhaps there is a way to keep data out that changes too frequently.
But in either case, I'll stay subscribed. :-)
