Airport Parking and Shuttle Pains

We need to get one of those airport shuttles for tomorrow. There's this:

SHUTTLE EXPRESS is the original SeaTac Airport ground transportation
Shuttle Service. We have the largest, most affordable, reliable door-to-
door, scheduled hotel, exclusive van and town car service in the Puget
Sound - from Everett to Tacoma, and Seattle through Bellevue, Redmond
to Issaquah. With availability 24 hours a day, seven days a week, we are
always available to meet your transportation needs! We are industry
leaders in safety, customer service and technology, which allows you to
get to the airport without worries. If you've used our service before you
know of our great people and great service. If you haven't used us before,
see for yourself — You'll love our service!

But I hate those door-to-door shuttle services. We'll probably just find nearby airport parking and take a short-range shuttle into the terminal. The official Sea-Tac Parking and Transportation page states:

We encourage you to drive in groups or take advantage of shuttles, buses, public transit and taxis whenever possible. And it's always a good idea to check on the flow of traffic around Puget Sound before getting on the road. In addition, our automated parking payment system helps you get out of the airport more quickly.

Oh, wow… here's a great resource: Airport Parking Reservations.. Works for me!

The holiday rush is over, all of the nearby airport lots are well below capacity. While you could get a reservation, it isn't necessary, you might want to hunt for a coupon for a better rate, most lots have a web coupon.

Also the nearby hotels such as the Radisson Seatac offer airport parking.

I park just outside the airport at Extracar rental and parking. It's $6.95 a day, and tehy shuttle you to the airport. http://www.extracar.com

Do yourself a favor leave the BMW at home. I would not trust it in the lots or the parking garage. If you have a less favored car take that. If you park in the garage park near as possible to the elevators in the center of the garage closest to the terminal and leave NOTHING in the open (throw it in the trunk). The port police patrol the garage but the vandals have been getting more aggressive the past few months. Have a good trip!

The bus rocks - theres one for the airport specifically - like 2 bucks to go from tacoma to seatac

Chris, Shuttle Express is wonderful. It's $13 each way and really nice service door to door. Metro's bus service is okay — don't take the 174 unless you want to stop at each…and….every…stop along the way. The 194 (an express) is best to take.
Hope this helps.

I was having a similar debate about the Burbank airport just last night.

I like SeaTacPark the best. If you have a Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards card it's $10 a day. Pricier than others, but service is good.

What I learned about the Seattle Airport is that if you live outside of Seattle, the best bargain is to stay at a hotel that offers a week of free parking and shuttle when you stay for a night. A night on return will get you two.
